Duterte signs law that bans hazing in all forms

MANILA - President Rodrigo Duterte has signed into law a measure that bans hazing in all forms, House of Representatives majority leader Rodolfo Fariņas said Wednesday.

Republic Act 11053 or the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018, which is an amendment of the 1995 version, also imposes higher penalties for those who will be proved guilty of hazing.

Congress last March ratified the bill following the hearings on the death of hazing victim Horacio "Atio" Castillo III, a University of Santo Tomas law freshman.
