Joint exploration with China may be a 'trojan horse': ex-SolGen
ABS-CBN News

Posted at Oct 17 2017 10:37 PM

MANILA- Former Solicitor General Florin Hilbay on Tuesday frowned upon plans for a joint development venture with China in the West Philippine Sea, saying it undermines Manila's claims in the area.

Hilbay, a member of the Philippine delegation that won the case against China in The Hague last year, explained that agreeing to a joint venture with Beijing is an "implied waiver" of the Philippines' exclusive rights to the area.

"The term I used is a trojan horse...Joint development is a partnership with China, the assumption of which is China has equal rights to the area," he said in an interview on ANC's "Beyond Politics."

Philippine News Agency

Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano on Monday bared that continuation of talks on possible joint exploration in the disputed area in South China Sea will be among topics the Philippines and China will discuss in their second meeting on the bilateral consultative mechanism (BCM). ...

“Conceptually, we both want it, in the declaration of the Chinese premier and the Philippine president, it was there," he said, adding the challenge now is to come up with an agreement that conforms both to Philippine laws and Chinese laws.

“During talks on partnership, the two countries will distance themselves from the issue of territorial rights for the meantime," he added.

“We are looking for best practices all around the world disputed and undisputed areas, there are examples around the world where there are disputed areas pero nagkaroon ng agreement na puwede yung both countries because they dealt with sovereignty rights, economic rights. Territorial rights 'di puwede," he stressed.

Naku, sigurado gnito yan.... For China to allow Philippines to have a joint exploration, condition that PH must allow China to conduct "survey/research" to PH Rise. It was the same method during GMAs time.

The price of developing Mindanao is giving away some sovereign territory of our country.

Its just press release that some islands under control of the government would be upgraded.

If Bajo Masinloc was given freely, then this would happen also to Philippine Rise.

Philippines risks sovereignty with loans from China, analyst warns

ABS-CBN

Anders Corr, an analyst with The Journal of Political Risk, said in an exclusive interview with ANC's Business Nightly that despite the Duterte administration's announcements about Chinese investments and loans, China has yet to deliver on these pledges. ...

He said that at the same time that China is negotiating loans, it is also doing negotiations for the joint development of oil and gas resources in the South China Sea.

"My conclusion is the loans that China is talking about in its memorandums of understanding are actually contingent on South China Sea concessions by the Philippines to China," Corr said.

Raider,

That exact same article was already mentioned in the PH's growing trade imbalance with China thread.

Joint exploration talks between Filipino, Chinese firms 'moving forward,' Roque says
ABS-CBN News

Posted at Mar 01 2018 09:32 AM

MANILA - A joint exploration between Filipino and Chinese companies in disputed waters is "likely to happen" as talks are "moving forward" under President Rodrigo Duterte, his spokesman said Thursday.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, however, did not identify the companies involved. Such an agreement between private companies is allowed under Philippine law, he said.

"I know they are discussing. They are moving forward and it's likely to happen," Roque told ANC's Headstart.

Palace: 2 S. China Sea areas considered for joint exploration with China
Dharel Placido, ABS-CBN News

Posted at Mar 02 2018 05:06 PM

MANILA - Malacañang on Friday said the Philippines is considering at least two areas in the South China Sea for possible joint exploration with China.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Service Contracts (SC) 57 and 72 are being considered for joint exploration “by corporations and not by sovereign states.”

“We are still in the process of negotiating with China,” Roque said of the two SCs in a news conference in Tarlac.

Very contradicting, proving that Roque agrees with PDu30 in fooling Filipinos:
...Harry Roque said Service Contracts (SC) 57 and 72 are being considered for joint exploration “by corporations and not by sovereign states.”

But notice this.. “We are still in the process of negotiating with China,” Roque said.

Why is PH negotiating with China if this is not be sovereign states? Besides.
Plus, why is PH negotiating with China? Why is PH adjusting to the laws of China? WTF!!!
