Words can hurt country, Carpio warns Duterte

Inquirer

Carpio noted that during the previous tribunal hearing of the South China Sea case, China offered the Philippines what it deems a “win-win” situation.

“We will send many tourists a year to the Philippines, we can do whatever we want, railway, train, whatever; we can lend you soft loans; we will send our company to invest [in huge amounts] in the Philippines,” said Carpio of China’s proposed deal to the country.

But China wanted the Philippines to concede its sovereignty and enter into a joint development with China in return, which means the country has surrendered, Carpio said.

CNN Philippines

Carpio recalled former President Fidel Ramos' visit to Hong Kong as special envoy to China. ...

"You first concede that we own and then we will share you the bounty. 50-50. And President Duterte is going there and I think the Chinese will have the same condition," Carpio explained. ...

"So if the president comes back and say we have signed all these agreements we want to know what were the terms," he said.
God grant me the courage not to give up what I think is right even though I think it is hopeless.

Speech of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte during his Attendance to the 33rd Philippine Coastguard Auxiliary (PCGA) National Convention

We will talk about it. Oil? There’s a way. We can discuss it. Huwag muna ngayon kasi magugulo. But we will in… Hindi naman kami madamot eh. Sabi ko ‘yun pala. Sabi ko siguro for one barrel, half, it’s ours. We will see.

Meaning joint development.

The joint development with China of disputed territories in the South China Sea means conceding the Philippines' sovereignty over those formations, Senior Associate Justice Antonio Carpio warned on Tuesday. ...

President Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday morning said he wanted to see the benefits of joint exploration for the Philippines before signing off on any such activity in the disputed territories.

Carpio pointed to an entry in the Chinese foreign ministry's website that indicated any nation must first concede sovereignty first before it could have joint projects with China in disputed territories.

"You will see there the concept of joint development and it has several elements. But the most important element with having a joint development with China at the South China Sea is one, you must concede sovereignty to China," Carpio said.

"Set aside dispute and pursue joint development"

The concept of "setting aside dispute and pursuing joint development" advanced by Deng Xiaoping carries a distinct feature of the contemporary time and provides a new approach for peaceful settlement of territorial disputes. ...

The concept of "setting aside dispute and pursuing joint development" has the following four elements: 1. The sovereignty of the territories concerned belongs to China. 2. When conditions are not ripe to bring about a thorough solution to territorial dispute, discussion on the issue of sovereignty may be postponed so that the dispute is set aside. To set aside dispute does not mean giving up sovereignty. It is just to leave the dispute aside for the time being. 3. The territories under dispute may be developed in a joint way. 4. The purpose of joint development is to enhance mutual understanding through cooperation and create conditions for the eventual resolution of territorial ownership.

Impeach them for good, if they try to push through with this illegal agreement with the Bully. Don't forget Treason as well.

It's pretty clear on the Constitution and also under UNCLOS that what's inside our EEZ is OURS to take n Explore.

Damn. The Permanent Court of Arbitration ruled in 2016 that the area is within the Philippine Exclusive Economic Zone.

The problem with PRD, he shot his own foot when he started quarrelling with them, use it as an excuse to distance our Country's Foreign Policy from our Western Allies and this limited the Philippines options and support.

So now, It's like holding on to a knife's edge.
Still, this is NO EXCUSE to justify a possible ILLEGAL Agreement with Beijing with regards to O/G Explorations in the WPS PH EEZ Territories.

He's so called "Independent Foreign Policy" is a BIG JOKE, he would rather ask and depend on a Country that's trying to destroy us and steal ALL our Territories, plaguing our Govt. System with Graft n Corruption and Illegal Drugs.
