I wonder how will the DND and AFP will react to this incident now , are there any ongoing plans to respond to this fluid situation less than 100 kms. from the shores of Palawan ... :armycool:

PH ready to assist Chinese warship
www.rappler.com
PUERTO PRINCESA, Palawan — The Philippines is ready to assist a Chinese warship if, indeed, it was stuck in a coral reef within the country's territory, a military officer said Thursday, July 12.
Quote:

"Any ship or naval vessel in distress, we are duty-bound to provide assistance regardless of whether or not they were there in violation of our territorial integrity," said Western Command spokesperson Lt Col Neil Estrella in an interview.

Quote:

"Salvage operations could be diplomatically challenging, given the vessel appears to have run aground within 200 kilometers of the Philippine coast, which is squarely within what Manila claims to be its exclusive economic zone," the news article said.

"Some local media friends asked the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines to confirm the news of a grounded Chinese Navy vessel at Half Moon Shoal in Nansha Islands. According to the information we got from the Information Department of the Ministry of National Defense of China, around 7pm of July 11, a frigate of Chinese Navy ran aground accidentally at Half Moon Shoal of Nansha Isands during a routine patrol mission, with no personnel injured. Currently the rescue work by the Chinese Navy is underway."

What a word from a helpless navy.. sad to say so.. :headbang:

"Any ship or naval vessel in distress, we are duty-bound to provide assistance regardless of whether or not they were there in violation of our territorial integrity," said Western Command spokesperson Lt Col Neil Estrella in an interview

If and only if we had that mighty navy.. this probably might be the statement of the Western Command spokesperson..

"We are duty-bound to impose our national sovereignty and territorial integrity at any costs, whether that naval vessel is in distress or not."

Good luck to our AFP... :armycry:

They should have done something right after they recieve the reports, responded straight away for it is within our EEZ territory, you can spot 100 kms. from Palawan...

Estrella, however, said the Western Command is still verifying the report. It is also waiting for further instructions from the national government, he added.

Rappler

"According to the information we got from the Information Department of the Ministry of National Defense of China, around 7pm of July 11, a frigate of Chinese Navy ran aground accidentally at Half Moon Shoal of Nansha Isands . . ."

Wait . . . it happened two days ago but WESCOM was "still verifying" as of this afternoon?

Helpless indeed.

Scenario:

Chinese frigate runs aground in a reef located within our territory prompting China to send in more warships to the reef as a pretext of a "rescue" by the PLA Navy

China sends 30-vessel fishing fleet to the Spratlys

The Philippines caught off-guard once again, deployed ships to the area. i wonder what this ships are..

:scared: NEWS FLASH: PLA Navy Captain Executed
Beijing, a frigate captain was executed this morning by melamine ingestion. He was found guilty for running aground his ship on the wrong shoal. His orders were to find a shoal with adequate shelter and ground his ship following that long perfected art of copying by the Chinese. They wanted to do a "BRP Sierra Madre". For that failure The rest of his family were sent to the labour camps pending HLA typing for organ donor compatibility test.

Experts predict that the frigate will soon sink due to the adverse conditions predicted to come in the next few days.
