Finally, this article confirms that the 560 was really grounded at Half Moon Shoal. It answers my query as to the authenticity of the picture posted by Phil Star as the frigate 560. I also share Mr Fisher's comment on the chinese command and control, communications efficiency in organizing and dispatching 5+ ships in assisting the 560 extricate itself from the shoal on short notice.

Was it a journalistic dishonesty on the part of Philstar or plain error?
We might never know. Try to ask Philstar about that.

Well, whoever said China is logical has made a big mistake.

Attacking Puerto Princesa is a cassus belli for war. It means that they are in anticipation for something along the lines of, "WWIII: Pacific War."

Just like Germany on Sept. 1939.

And the big players aren't even doing anything about it. Just like WWII.

Ironic, isn't it?

attacking Puerto Princesa city to punish us? for what? I honestly don't think they can do that.. there is a world of difference between us and Vietnam.. those two countries are communist neighbors and erstwhile friends and allies.. what China did to Vietnam they cannot just do to us.. because my dear friends, this is where the mutual defense treaty comes in.. we'e going back again to the old cold war mentality, democracies vs communists..

I also disagree with Mr. Ric Fisher's assessment on China's attack on Pto. Princesa! While 'teach a lesson' is China's war doctrine, attack on RP mainland might be carrying too far. The chinese are not that brilliant. Agree with you that MDT covers this scenario. Probably he may be referring to skirmishes in the WPS at sea or some islands where there are high probabilities.

The grounding of the frigate 560 at Half Moon shoal maybe a survey as a prelude to developing/physically occupying the shoal. Its a better site than adjoining Bombay Shoal. Both shoals to include Mischief Reef are at the doorsteps to our own Recto Bank, a term in nautical charts not a financial use of the word.

I would further believe that all these noise by china are to further their physical occupation on unoccupied remaining shoal. reefs and atolls to cement their claim on "res nullius" justification for claim.

Raider, please repost your map again! I find it very useful as reference and research work. The site has been hacked I suspect by our tormentors that it cannot be used anymore! Thanks.
