Chinese frigate runs aground in Half Moon Shoal

Right Back to TOPIC....anyway, we still need to beef-up our Naval presence for possible intrusion. We still need more patrol boats of different lengths that can travel and patrol at least 50 nautical miles from coast. Installation of Surveillance Monitoring RADARs is a BIG HELP prior sending the naval patrol boats to verify and assist the situation.

it is always easy to say "we will die for our country" but when you're out there, its different. sabi nga nila kahit patalim lalaban sila ng patayan pero sabi lang yun mga sir. di na uso puro tapang, gamitan ng utak na to. be smart, ika nga, and don't be brilliant, as in brilliant.

ibig ko pong sabihin, di ka basta basta susugod sa giyera, you need intelligence and the military knows this very well, Gringo said this clearly in one of his interviews "eh mauubos military natin" in a confrontation with China.

We did the right thing, I'm sure the Commander-in-Chief, the DefSec, the AFPCS, our generals and admirals, and of course our soldiers, sailors and airmen felt the same way as we do and our forum members, nanggagalaiti sa galit and exclaiming "Let's bomb the hell out of these retards!" and then realizing We Just Can't! you just have to think.

The military leadership sent both a navy and coast guard ship to monitor the Chinese in "rescuing" their ship and placed all available assets on standby for any emergency or eventuality, and I'm pretty sure the Del Pilar and the Humabon is both included and moved to a nearby location, because that's what I'll do.

I just wonder if the so-called ISR assistance from the US has been utilized in this particular situation. We all know that US submarines and Orion patrol planes has been patrolling the South China Sea and I'm sure they're using their satellites as well to track the activities and movements of every Chinese ships, whether civilian or military in every disputed area and hot spot in the West Philippine Sea, and then passing this information to our defense establishment. Remember, the President said let us not telegraph our punches, so just mere silence from the military and just bits of information being given out to media.

I remember my father saying to me "do not make too much noise so that when we hit our enemies they wouldn't know and they will just be surprised" when dealing with an unruly neighbor. makes sense.

Wardog youre just plain ignoramous yourself and making a fool of yourself by bringing me up here. Youre the one who brought up a brilliant question of who supposed to initiate an attack from the other thread. I didnt say we should attack the chinese ship, but rather just surround it with any assets they could dispose of, so whats wrong? Its all our rights and they are inside our 200nm EEZ. If anyone here think that Panatag Shoal is ours, what more a 111nm? Still dont get it? True its easier said than done but youre lucky that some expats are still giving moral support to all of you there in the philippines, to think it shouldnt be our problem anymore.

I dont know how you managed to stay that long here by calling everyone ignoramous.

Just to clarify, there is NO REASON or justification for another country to be patrolling another countrie's EEZ with military naval assets....NONE.

Especially when the intruding nation is erroneously claiming an entire international body of water as their soveriegn territory...while their claims are not recognized by the international community.

A military naval ship 'patrolling' that far inside another's EEZ was/is an overt act of aggression any way you cut it.

Almost any other nation in the world (including China) would have handle it as an intrusion and as a severe diplomatic issue.

How the PI handles such an incursion is up to them obviously.

In this case, it appears that they stood pat and allowed the chicoms to exit without losing face. However, it also sends a signal to the PLAN that the PI has limited ability (and will) to respond more strongly.

The philipines already lost a lot of faces and seems like they got more to lose if china continues their arrogance.

Looks like the Chinese are using Fishing Boats to do its Dirty work on occupying and claiming our waters but with a CMS backup from behind. I guess we should be adapting another aggressive counter-move by ramming those Fishing boats with our own Fishing boats too..

What's the chinese thought to do:

Quote:

In April, the Philippines and Vietnam said they would hold soccer and basketball matches in the Spratlys, the same day a Chinese cruise ship completed a voyage to the disputed territory.

At first glance, the Spratlys seem to hold scarce value. Some of the islands actually disappear below the water at high tide.

But, the Spratlys offer a prime location to monitor the shipping lanes of the South China Sea. More important, the seabed is believed to contain as much as 225 billion barrels worth oil and natural gas — enough to fuel Canada for 280 years, based on current consumption of about 2.2 million barrels per day. (The Athabasca oilsands formation, by contrast, is estimated to contain 1.7 billion barrels of recoverable oil.)

It’s no wonder China covets the Spratlys. The world’s fastest-growing economy, China uses five times as much oil and gas as Canada, but its supply of hydroelectricity declined by 40 per cent last year because of a prolonged drought.

When the Philippines announced recently that it would work with a U.K. company to explore for deposits near the Spratlys, China’s government-owned Global Times newspaper wrote an editorial that China should strike first.

“Everything will be burned to the ground should a military conflict break out,” the paper argued. “We shouldn’t waste the opportunity to launch some tiny-scale battles that could deter provocateurs from going further.”

AND THEN THIS:

Quote:

In 2010, a South Korean corvette called the Cheonan was on a routine patrol in the Yellow Sea when it was sunk near Baengnyeong, 22 kilometres from the North Korean coast. Forty-six South Korean sailors died. An investigation concluded the warship had been crippled by a torpedo from a mini-submarine.

“No one can predict what North Korea will do, and no one can say what China will do if the U.S. rushes in to help South Korea,” says David Zimmerman, a professor of military history at British Columbia’s University of Victoria.

Tensions are already raw between South Korea and China.

Last December, a South Korean coast guard commando was stabbed and another injured after they arrested nine Chinese fishermen who had been illegally fishing in the Yellow Sea.

After the commandos boarded one fishing vessel, another rammed it, prompting fishermen on board to start attacking the commandos. The captain of the Chinese fishing boat smashed a window and used broken glass to kill the commando.

It's a long read:

China's overt and increasing aggression is alarming.

You all (me included) want a peaceful resolution to this but the reality is China will never allow itself onto the world court because they know they will lose and gain nothing. They would rather bully weaker nations and prefer bilateral talks because they can at least gain something. Diplomacy is the key.

While diplomats talk, stall, and vie for time. The Philippines should re-arm and modernize. Streamline the military and if possible increase the budget.

The Hamilton's are a good start. But more importantly, if in fact true, the Italian deal with their frigates, corvettes, and minesweepers should be expedited. Take the whole lot. Upgrade, train, and be ready.

These modernization plans have all but been plans since I can remember. Make them a reality. Filipinos can do anything if they put their minds to it.

I will reiterate what I have said. "These should have been done yesterday".

Now is the time. Rise up Philippines. Show the world what you are made of and prove me right. I believe in you.
