easier said than done sir. first off, we do not have the capability to do that. hold them with what? we don't have the ships. I honestly don't think BRP Del Pilar can do that, and what are we going to surround them with, Del Pilar and the Rajah Humabon, and the three corvettes?
one false move, its like we're inviting them to a shootout. it might be grounded but that ship is lethal, aside from its guns, it carries anti-ship missiles to which Del Pilar and Humabon is both vulnerable, and for sure Chinese submarines is already deployed around the reef protecting that frigate, and ready to launch its torpedoes to any of our ship that dares to come nearby, even without provocation. remember they announced that their patrols are combat ready, what more with these PLAN warships. and i'm pretty sure other Chinese frigates and destroyers are just nearby. we can almost say that this is another tense situation for our outstretched navy and coast guard
So you rather want to obey the oppressor? I'd rather confront and be beaten. That's atleast the proud and dignified man's way.
very brave fighting words, but typical of someone posting from thousands of miles away from the philippines
The issue is the way we all think when we are confronted with the real situation right before our eyes. And some would not act brave, but others would. But in general the filipinos are not a proud people. Really sad story to tell the future generation. And ofcourse you know why. As for me personally I have already met some of those situation in my life. Facing fatal confrontations. So I can without regret say those "brave fighting words".

Philippine Territorial waters...

Territorial Sea A state's territorial sea extends up to 12 nautical miles from its baseline. If this would overlap with another state's territorial sea, the border is taken as the median point between the states' baselines, unless the states in question agree otherwise. A state can also choose to claim a smaller territorial sea.
Contiguous Zone The contiguous zone is a band of water extending from the outer edge of the territorial sea to up to 24 nautical miles (44 km; 28 mi) from the baseline, within which a state can exert limited control for the purpose of preventing or punishing "infringement of its customs, fiscal, immigration or sanitary laws and regulations within its territory or territorial sea".
Exclusive Economic Zone An exclusive economic zone extends from the outer limit of the territorial sea to a maximum of 200 nautical miles (370.4 km) from the territorial sea baseline, thus it includes the contiguous zone. A coastal nation has control of all economic resources within its exclusive economic zone, including fishing, mining, oil exploration, and any pollution of those resources. However, it cannot prohibit passage or loitering above, on, or under the surface of the sea that is in compliance with the laws and regulations adopted by the coastal State in accordance with the provisions of the UN Convention, within that portion of its exclusive economic zone beyond its territorial sea. Indeed, the exclusive economic zone is still popularly, though erroneously, called a coastal nation's territorial waters.

Yes majority of us Filipinos are brave, and thankfully for us, the powers that be in the government are not as foolishly brave as you.
Your ignorant mind may ask why cannot our government act militarily on this supposed 'intrusion' by a Chinese warship into our 'territory'?
Pause & think for a while before you are tempted to rant again, better yet do some research about a coastal state's rights to its EEZ and to its Territorial Waters, as suggested previously by mr. zundino.
Here's a good place to start:

PS: Bring spearhead with you and the other warfreak ignoramuses on the EEZ.

Anyone who comes to a counter-insurgency thinking it`s about killing terrorists is missing the boat. It`s really about winning the people. You can kill all the terrorists but then you`ve pissed people off and created 100 more.

Relax! Just calm down. No need to use foul language.
I remember watching tv in the news and also reading in the below article
http://www.rappler.com/nation/8621-chinese...half-moon-shoal
"Western Command spokesperson Lt Col Neil Estrella earlier said that the ship was ready to assist the Chinese warship in Half Moon Shoal, which is within Philippine territory."
So I thought it was within philippine territory. And I would claim that this Lt Col Neil Estrella is ignorant also. Filipinos might be brave, but not proud.

Its not foul language, its the truth and nothing can be more foul than opinions based on ignorance.

Exactly the reason why forumers like you should not be too quick on the trigger and rant based on what you saw on TV and read in the news. My unsolicited advice: validate & research first before you open your mouth, or to be precise, hit your keyboard.

What can you expect when you get wrong information?! We should expect a Lt Col to know the truth. By that its natural to make mistake.
