What are your views? According to the video, Sen. Pres. J. Enrile is supporting to change the constitution 'that is flexible and leaving it to the representatives of the people to decide what are the priorities at any given time'. Meanwhile, Political Analysis Prof. C. Carlos have reiterated the need to outsource the AFP to help collect more revenues to fund some military operations, following the example of Singapore and the US by privatizing military supplies and hiring mercenaries: SONA: AFP, 'di raw kayang ipagtanggol ang Pilipinas sakaling http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGfVHt3gI3E |

Important highlights from the video, SONA by Jessica Soho. Kung hindi mo naman salbahin yun, eh anong bale nung edukasyon na yan? let us make a constitution that is flexible. Leave it to the representatives of the people to decide what are the priorities at any given time". ======================================== Statement from Political Analyst Clarita Carlos Prof. C. Carlos: "Ang ibig sabihin kasi ng maglalagay ka ng malaking kaperahan sa defense naten, aalisin mo yan sa ibang lugar with the social services, education, health na mas importante. Why start an arms race no? na hindi naman tayo mananalo dahil matatalo tayo dahil konti nga lang ang ating pera. And we don't want that to happen." "America has been doing this. Ang kanilang mga logistics, mga nagdadala ng kanilang mga fuel, oil, etc. Sino ang gumagawa nyan private military contractors". Reporter: Pero tao din naten ma'am noh? Prof. C. Carlos: More likely tao nung ano, actually, mas mapangit na pangalan nito ay "mercenaries" dba? natandaan mo in the past? Pero ngayon its already in the business, and its a multi-billion business. Reporter: Sino yung mga tao? ibang lahi? Prof. C. Carlos: Yes... Why not? Mutual Defense Treaty with USA? Prof. C. Carlos: Hindi naman inuubliga pero, yung stipulation nun they will got to their contitutional process. Which means you got to the lower house, the upper house, and the president. Napakatagal nun, at that time tepok na tayong lahat. |

After watching this video. I'm still undecided. Iraq For Sale "A documentary about War in Iraq involving Politics and Private Contractors like Black Water. [dohtml]<iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/0Zt9BZD7mlc" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>[/dohtml] Youtube Link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Zt9BZD7mlc But for now, I think we should support the president and the DnD/AFP. To build a so-called minimum credible defense force. A defense system that will make the enemy think twice and make it costier for them to engage war with us. A force that will hold for enough time until help comes. Yes, we have to admit that We don't have any chance of winning a full-scale war with China. Anyway thats just me.

Yes I totally agree to support the very least of minimum Defense posture, while at the same time changing the constitution though it is not a priority at the moment. The professor is also right and that made both of them with strong points. But Enrile has the most urgent matter and attention that needed the most. Tamang Tama sya na ano nga ba ang silbe ng education without a proper defense capabilities to protect our nation. Right on mr Senate President! |

IT"S ALREADY FLEXIBLE. Baka gusto lang ni manong Enrile na baguhin ang Constitution para magi tayong Parliament type of government. I don't like parliament form of government kasi alang term limit ang Congress, that means they can be a prime minister for as many years as they are supported by their party. Why do you guys think GMA went back to congress? |

Much of our budget needs to go towards getting us where we need to be as a capable military. This should include money to bring in contractors from a handful of companies that specialize in very specific areas that we are lacking in. We can always use joint training with US forces to help fill gaps in generalized military operations and training but we need to hire SME's from specific defense companies in which training is a core tenet of theirs. Integration, Technology, Communications, Computers, Special Operations, Aviation and ISR are areas we really need to get a leg up on. We do not need giant groups of contractors running around but we could use several core groups who create the curriculum for us, train our initial cadres and our cadres would then go out and get these lessons taught in conjunction with our contractors to get this information out to our units. Take a crew aircraft for example. Contract up to two deep in each position for up to a year to create the entire Training Support Package we need and then get the initial cadres taught. After that cut it back to one deep in each crew position so that we have a resident SME capability to continue to refine curriculum, teach classes, conduct training flights, evaluate our units and create new products based on emerging and incorporated technologies and assets. This concept could be done with fighter aircraft training, manned ISR assets, small tactics teams, special operators and more. The value we could pull out of a properly managed resource like this is worth its weight in gold. I am afraid that if we do not make a long term commitment like this in conjunction with the US military so they can help fund and manage this program, then these shiny toys run a high risk of ending up like all of our other pretty toys. We need to give our nation and our leaders something to be proud of and not scared of. |
