MANILA, Philippines - Former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and her son and fellow lawmaker Camarines Sur Rep. Diosdado Arroyo are proposing the creation of a new government agency to prevent terrorist attacks on transport in the country.

They co-sponsored House Bill 6225, which aims to create a "Philippine Transportation Security Authority" (PTSA).
"Experiences of the international community show that terrorism could strike at the most unexpected places and at the most unexpected time," the former President's son said in a press statement.

"The world had been witness to the spate of terrorist attacks inflicted upon transportation systems and facilities which resulted in the reckless loss of lives and enormous damage to public and private infrastructure and property," he added.

According to the bill, the proposed agency under the Department of Transportation and Communications will consolidate civil aviation, maritime, land and rail national security programs throughout the country to prevent terrorist attacks.

The PTSA will be led by an undersecretary who will be appointed by Malacañang.

The agency's chief will exercise control and supervision over all police and security agencies in charge of transportation security services, according to the younger Arroyo.

Why do they need to have another special group? Bakit di na lang i-improve ang kakayahan ng ating pulisya or other already existing agency. Sigh.

And another drain of budget...galing talaga mukhang hidden agenda nila yun
If you don't want a modern and capable AFP, you might want to get the f*ck off the Philippines because you don't deserve to be a Filipino that's why!
