Foreign secretary to visit Japan Updated June 25, 2012 10:31 PM MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) - Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario will embark on his first official working visit to Japan this week at the invitation of his Japanese counterpart Foreign Minister Koichiro Gemba, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said today. Del Rosario will be in Tokyo from June 27 to 29. "Both foreign ministers will discuss vital issues relating to bilateral economic relations, cooperation in the field of maritime security, the Mindanao peace process, as well as regional issues such as regional security and cooperation," the DFA said. Apart from the bilateral meeting with Gemba, Del Rosario will also call on Deputy Prime Minister Katsuya Okada and meet with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) President Akihiko Tanaka and officials of the Japan-Philippines Parliamentarian Friendship League (JPPFL), among others, to discuss the advancement of bilateral relations and exchange views on issues of common interest. Gov't to propose P2 trillion budget for 2013 MANILA - The Philippines will propose an 11 percent increase in its spending budget for 2013, but the plan still needs a final approval of President Benigno Aquino, a senior government official said on Tuesday. Budget Secretary Florencio Abad told reporters the government was planning to propose to Congress a national budget of P2 trillion ($47 billion) for next year, up from this year's P1.8 trillion. www.abs-cbnnews.com |
