VIRGINIA BEACH, Va., Apr 18, 2012 (GlobeNewswire via COMTEX) --Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) announced today that its subsidiary AMSEC has signed an agreement with Hanjin Heavy Industries and Construction Philippines, Inc. (HHIC-PHIL), a subsidiary of HHIC Holdings Co., Ltd. to work together in providing maintenance, repair and logistics services to the U.S. Navy and other customers in the western Pacific region.

The agreement with HHIC-PHIL allows AMSEC to benefit from Hanjin's state-of-the art shipyard at Subic Bay, Philippines, and accelerate Hanjin's growth into the maintenance, repair and logistics services as the U.S. Navy increases focus in the Western Pacific region.

This is great news! I hope HHIC-PHIL can be certified to service and repair the Arleigh
Burkes and new replacements to the Tarawa Class, USS America! We will learn how to service these high tech ships. Will we see the Zumwalts? All these are HII built ships.

We will just learn and see these modern warships but how about re-create them for our poor navy? Our country is already capable of providing maintenance and repair to navy vessels because until now we still have WW2-era ships in service.

This could be a start for PN's self reliance and a joint venture!

Could be,

What happened to Tagbanua, Aguinaldo class and Barako.

Its up to the Top if he wants self reliance or second hand junks.
Modernization should prioritize:

Patrol Ships with air/sub/ship detection, fast & lightly armed for Navy.
Surface Attack Aircraft with anti ship/sub attack capability for Airforce.
SAM with Radars, Close AA battery capable of shooting ground targets too for Army.
This triangle defense will work together and protect us from external threats.

A joint venture will allow technology transfer that will pave the way to self-reliance! Nice :specool:
