MANILA, Philippines – Huge quantities of chromite, an element used to produce stainless steel, are apparently being spirited out of the country for export to China through Zambales. A News5 crew encountered truckloads of the metal on the highway in Zambales, but when they followed the trail to a pier, security guards at the pier denied that any loading operation was ongoing. China has in recent years been going farther overseas to source vital raw materials, especially metals, needed for its burgeoning industries. Local Customs officials, meanwhile, denied there was any smuggling from the Zambales pier. Youtube Video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5olymwvpts...player_embedded SOURCE |
