MANILA — A Philippine Navy corvette, the 763-ton BRP Emilio Jacinto (PS-35), has intercepted a Vietnamese fishing vessel poaching off Balabac in Palawan Thursday.

Maj. Niel Estrella, AFP Western Command spokesperson, said the Vietnamese ship and 20 crewmen were arrested around 9:54am.

He added the apprehension took place 9.5 nautical miles off Martinez Point in Balabac.
When boarded, the fishing vessel was found to be carrying 20 live sea turtles, Estrella said.
