But that gives you an advantage in terms of facilities, its now just a matter of design, like how they imitate the kagitingan class design. That is where vietnam training goes in of the so called "art of modern warship constructing.

You need more than facilities.

Warship in terms of armaments

We could just make the basic hull ship instead of more expensive old second hands, the Weapons system can be contracted 3rd party from Thales or Raytheon or others depending on how much budget they could throw at like starting from the basic oto melera cannon to harpoons.

Even korea's KA-50 sensors and weapons system are 3rd party.

If Warship in terms of military use

We already did like kagitingan class and tagbanua.
Modernization should prioritize:

Patrol Ships with air/sub/ship detection, fast & lightly armed for Navy.
Surface Attack Aircraft with anti ship/sub attack capability for Airforce.
SAM with Radars, Close AA battery capable of shooting ground targets too for Army.
This triangle defense will work together and protect us from external threats.

imho, dnd should provide a consultant or consultants if they are to use local ship builders for some patrol boats or warships so they get to do it right first time they do it. remember the aguinaldo class? they got it wrong, that is why it only stopped at 2 units.

maybe dnd should revive navship? an improved one, that is. maybe in partnership with a foreign shipbuilder?

The aguinaldo class is overloaded if they will equip it with cannons instead of missiles.

DND is making our as cheap as possible. So, I think, they are hiring consultants, but only few.

Don't forget Tenix! our country has made many contracts with them.

they had lots of plans for the aguinaldos, unfortunately they got the design wrong. kaya hanggang gen luna at aguinaldo na lang.

they should learn from this mistake and do it right next time!

We should blame those 4 past administrations who failed to utilize their AFP modernization budget, and gave us 25 of unbearable useless years to reach this point.

Spearhead,

The problem here is that Congress did not fund the AFP Modernization Act of 1995. This law allocated P 50 billion to be disbursed between 1995 to 2010. I believe only P 20 billion or so was budgeted.

There was also a plan to make the Aguinaldo class the 1st missile-armed gun boats in the Philippine Navy but that too got cancelled.

JV just to answer you, we all know that. But it's not really about intentionally not funding it, rather MISUSED it, at natukso sila sa kurapsyon. They already got the budget from bases-conversions. So instead they funded their families first and with all their banks. That's why. Remember even the AFP have admitted it all about their corruptions, lack of political will, talunan sa mga plano, and FVR's mixing of the intended funds for the modernization into general budget that disappeared? I posted those links sometime last year. Ontop of this, those PABAON, tsaka yang mga kotong dito kotong duon, etc....? And yet no one is naming the culprits.

Anyway, regarding of the topic, any updates so far aside from their friendly sports games?
