You guys may wanna take a look at this:

I'm not able to understand much vietnamese, but the description of the video seemed nice. The design is still not that perfect, but the Vietnamese are eight leaps forward of us in military shipbuilding.

And its pathetic the Philippines is the 4th largest shipbuilder in the world and they prefer to buy a stripped down vietnam war era oversize patrol ship. Training for bigger warship? thats the greatest excuse ive ever heard.
Modernization should prioritize:

Patrol Ships with air/sub/ship detection, fast & lightly armed for Navy.
Surface Attack Aircraft with anti ship/sub attack capability for Airforce.
SAM with Radars, Close AA battery capable of shooting ground targets too for Army.
This triangle defense will work together and protect us from external threats.

We should blame those 4 past administrations who failed to utilize their AFP modernization budget, and gave us 25 of unbearable useless years to reach this point. Consider ourselves lucky that an oligarch PNoy is atleast seriously taking care of this military upgrade unlike others. While it hurts because we're starting all over again, having some baby steps regarding this planned refurbishing and repairing acquisitional skills by the PN from their vietnamese counterparts, atleast they are now doing something as a start to help the PN develop their own capabilities to learn and use it how to build their own warships in the future.

That is exactly TRUE.

While others are "criticizing" the current administration we should also look back at the past 3 administration. At least this time we are making improvements. :patrioticpinoy:

I'd have to agree. The past presidents of this country is too focused inside the shell but not knowing much the dangerous world outside the shell.

The Philippines is the 4th largest shipbuilder in the world; would that be for warships?

But that gives you an advantage in terms of facilities, its now just a matter of design, like how they imitate the kagitingan class design. That is where vietnam training goes in of the so called "art of modern warship constructing.

Warship in term of armaments
or Warship in term of a military use ship?
Modernization should prioritize:

Warship in term of armaments
or Warship in term of a military use ship?

Both are interchangeable.

But, for the sake of clarity, I'd say in terms of armaments.
