If the news is accurate, then our navy will have two ASM systems, the Harpoon and the Teseo (when the Italian ships arrive). The US usually puts a lot of restrictions on the use of equipment they give through aid or through FMS. It might be possible that we are restricted from installing ASMs on the WHECs so as not to anger China, America's No. 1 "economic ally". |

yep, its the USCGC Mellon that was equipped with the anti-submarine warfare suite, which includes the AN/SQS-26 sonar and Mark 46 torpedoes. it was just mentioned that the two ships will be fitted with more sophisticated radars capable of detecting and tracking down incoming surface threats and anti-missile and torpedo decoying systems. no specifics yet |

If its true its getting sophisticated radar then it should be newer than the AN/SPS-40. |

The source is an unnamed official which is hardly a guarantee that this will turn out true, not until Alcaraz arrives here with the Harpoons already on deck.
