imho, those missile boats will only be patrolling the wps, at least till when it will be considered, together with the whecs. and as for the numerous whecs, if we are to acquire more, i doubt it will be for wps only. maybe 3 whecs and 3 missile boats for wps patrol duty, on a rotation basis will be enough. adding asw capability to the whecs should also be considered, not just by adding an asw chopper, but to the boat itself.  :thumb:

as for letting a small missile boat patrol the wps alone, kawawa naman ang matoka dito. considering high sea states in the area sometimes, i doubt the boat will last long. as for the sailors . . .  :drunk:

That is the very reason why the government chose the WHEC because it is suitable for high seas patrol unlike a small vessel where it is only good within inland seas.

good point.. which means it will be not a bad idea to have both. the WHECs for longer distance patrols while the missile boats for shoreline patrol within the archipelago. so if the enemy was able to avoid the WHECs and penetrated futher in close to the shores then they can be challenged by the missile boats as a second layer of protection and the third layer will be the land based missiles etc. just as I said a combination of all ideas and strategies.

Those smaller missile boats are really designed for the last line of naval defence if there is such a thing together with diesel subs and other gunboats.

sana nagbabasa din si Pnoy ng mga thread natin dito para naman nalalaman nya na in dire need ng PN ang ganitong kagamitan. Not to mention a modest upgrade for our PAF.

Buhay pa ba yung official Facebook page nya?

as far as I know wala na ang facebook nya. But the Dept of National Defense FB is still active. That is where I got the news about Sec Gazmin's trip to Italy. :armycheers:
