ice have you read the new law proposed by cong biazon and sen lacson? The law would push us back to CUP 1 where ISO will be given priority.. meaning we have to wait another 6 years before we would start acquiring assets for territorial defense..Intindihin mo muna kasi bago ka magcomment.. What i think is better is to just extend the old law where there will be streamlining of the AFP organization and acquire assets to protect our EEZ., Besides 15 years has lapsed and the AFP is no where modernized as envisioned by the authors of the 1995 law. |

Those are proposals. Those are not the final law. Law-making is like sausage-making. The House would have a version, the Senate will have a version and when both versions passed they have to mend the 2 versions into one. While the process is taking place, certain propositions can get amended, modified and even entirely changed. If the Senate version does not agree on certain proposals from the House version, you cannot mend it into a single law. Both sides will have to agree and compromise. The executive (PNoy) can give proposals as well to be included as the President can very well veto anything given to him for signing. Instead of arbitrarily just rejecting it, the AFP/DND and the executive could give their proposals as well and ask certain things to be changed and that PNoy will threaten veto it (not sign it into law). With PNoy's party having the majority he has control on what are the contents of the final law. In short, the Pres. has the last say esp.since he control the House of Rep. therefore he can control certain of not majority of what's goes inside the final bill. A bill is just a bill w/o the Pres. signing it into law. |

i see your point ice..but what is surprising is both cong. biazon and sen. lacson are allies of the administration..to put up a bill that will further delay territorial defense acquisition at this time when the PLAN has been intruding to our EEZ..This is counter to the Plan of Pnoys administration to build up our territorilal defenses...The AFP modenization law has underline the defense concept that is being carried out by the DND..Have you not peruse the detail of the old modernization law? I hope you at least read it and compare it to the bill being pushed ... Prioritizing ISO over external defense is irresponsible and will further pull us behind our ASEAN neighbors.. when we are more at risk of a direct attack compared to our neighbors.. |

The latest news reports re-iterated the US stand against putting up new military bases in the Philippines as well as within Southeast Asian region. |

"meaning we have to wait another 6 years before we would start acquiring assets for territorial defense" WTF!!! Why would anyone want to cause this to happen? When we need to purchase weapons systems ASAP and a couple of politicians are intent on stopping the process...more traitors paid well by their Chinese masters? |

http://www.tempo.com.ph/2012/rp-jet-fighte...d/#.Tzai9bEgejM Manila, Philippines – Instead of submitting a wish list that would include acquisition of fighter jets and modern military hardware, the Philippines should ask the US government to supply it with cargo aircraft, choppers, and sea transport to beef up its relief operations and defense against natural calamities. Muntinlupa City Rep. Rodolfo Biazon, chairman of the House Committee on National Defense, backed this proposal by saying that confrontation with typhoons, earthquakes, and other natural disasters are more imminent compared to a threat of war over the dispute for West Philippine Sea (also known as the South China Sea) territories against China. Congressman Biazon are you being paid by china so that our AFP will not modernize? i have noticed that in the many years youve sitted as chief of staff then as senator you have block any move by any administration to acquire fighter jets.. first when we where offered kfir jets during corys time.. then when we where offered the embargoed F-16s in the mid 90s.. then in the early 2001 when we were again offered fighter jets from the US and israel..damn are you the enemy of modernization? or you are just in love with helicopters and cargo planes.. YOU dont deserve to file the AFP modernization law extention.. I hope someone else will replace you in the congress's committe on defense.. there are better former military people than you.. I hope Golez will replace you.. Your ideas are too old..and so 80s.. We are in different times.. Its people like you that have push our AFP into its current mediocre state.. I hope you are reading this.. I also hope your son, ruffy, does not share the same back ward views. Your short sightedness is really dissapointing.. i hope you wont get reelected.. from a decorated soldier you have turned yourself into a political prostitute. |
