Foreign investors are welcome, but they should follow the rules and not go around the country like a chicken with it's head cut off and dealing with people that the state considers as enemies.

Investing in our country presumes abiding with foreign incorporation laws. We have law enforcement agencies that prove we are a sovereign country. And we are FREE to enforce our own laws. And the laws are sufficient unless investment opportunities and environments dictates another set of laws. We have enough lobbyists in the persons of CPP-NPAs. The only difference our legislators have with the terrorists is that the former has wisdom in tabling the laws. The latter are vicious, violent asong gubat or wolves in sheeps's clothings..(as usually referred to by Churches and Muslim mosques in the country as "asong gubat".)

If we can get rid of foreign US military bases the more sovereign power or free are wee to enforce our own laws.

If you want to be an advocate against foreign interference, hammer your efforts against Chinese espionage.. A member of the Marcos family describes herself as cordon sanitaire against Chinese espionage..You can be like her. She's a lawyer. Hence, anybody who accuses her of Chinese espionage is liable to be under warrant of surveillance for slander or libel

I don't want to judge people but I noticed something. The degree of vehemence of Sison against a political personality (except Cory Aquino) can be measured by the personality's attachment to or inclination to work for the Chinese. See how vehement hee is against rabid pro-American Marcos. There are some presidents and capitalists in the Philippines on whom Sison has his hands-off. These are filthy capitalists usually deflowering 4-6 young lasses a day to the knowledge of Sison. Well, as long as you s***** up democratic Philippinnes including our innocent daughters, nothing is off-limits to the lobo sison. :lollol:

We have a legal system but we do not have justice...

Our sovereignty is intact despite the presence of the americans. In fact the americans help us maintain our sovereignty. They keep the muslim insurgents on their toes and the Chinese in check. Something we failed at miserably for years due to our own leaders not loving our country more than their personal fiefdoms wealth.

A foreign investor may have difficulty avoiding the legal "landmines" within our country if we cannot protect them from extortion groups like the NPA and the PNP.

On the Chinese part that is alright but on the muslim insurgent I would be more skeptic and suspicious.

Considering how long our nations leaders have had this moro problem to deal with I would be more skeptical of their motivations and not of the americans. The americans have the ability to think in a much longer view and in a more strategic mindset than our "leaders" do. We may not be privy to what their machinations are and what there actual goal is but it is not necessarily detrimental to us.

My guess is they are playing the moros in order to get them into a situation that reveals them for what they really are to their own population. So that their populace can see that the leaders of the moros are in fact self-serving thugs. These thugs are willing to grab at any opportunity that they feel would put more money in their pockets and this the noose is tightened.

This effort may also put pressure on the malays to get the F#$K out of our backyard lest they be exposed for what they have been doing. The malays need to stick with the black marketing of goods like curry flavoured soup in the Ukay Ukay's of Mindanao and not the internal politics of our nation.

Make no mistake, our "leaders" over the past few decades have been playing a very similar game but at a much greater cost in terms of blood, national treasure and security. We do not have the experience or resources to play at the usa level. We are riddled with self serving leaders who quickly undermine our national efforts at every opportunity to line their own pockets with blood money.

I said it before and I will say it again. After discussions with my american military friends, if we gave them a "golden ticket" to exterminate the leaders of the separatist movement in Mindanao, it would be over in two weeks. The same info has already been given to our military leadership but they routinely fail to act on the info in a timely manner or cut a deal with the rogue elements for a fistful of pesos to support their kabits.

So putting everything in context...who is the greater threat?

Many here especially the "natural resources" oriented business see the Moro's and the US intention as a threat and our business partners see it as well. Sugar coating their intentions as amusing for us and disturbing as well.

I am writing a book on mindanao, ans i have done a lot of research on mindanao issues and i have to say, that if there is a group to blame for the root cause of the Moro insurgency, it would have to be the philippine government based in manila.

For starters, the HUK rebels who demanded land were sent to mindanao to be given the land instead of being given the land of the luzon-based hacienderos(who controlled the philippine congress). the problem was covered temporarily but not solved.

When visayas and luzon based land squatters started flooding mindanao in the 1960s, 1970 , 1980s, did the philippine national govt do something about it ? nothing, not even an effective population control program to lessen the land squatting and land reform issues in mindanao- and throughout the philippines.

I can go on and on, and cite other things that point to the philippine national govt controlled by selfish, parochial rich hacienderos and monopolistic industrialists and their puppies(tutas)

One more thing, when you have officials whether military or civilians who had a corrupt or morally loose upbringing due to having corrupt or immoral parents, what do you expect this military or civilian officials to do except imitate their corrupt parents ?its handed down generation to generation or how about this dynatic parent to wife or to child political rule, e.g. aquinos, marcos, singson, recto, etc etc dont you notice many of the prominent politicians just perpetuate dynatics politics ?

We can blame the government, hacienderos, or every social elite however the fact is that the ordinary people will suffer and the people who have spent an enormous amount fo money in developing their business are in danger of losing their money as well. In light of the Wikileaks revelation we here see no other reason to trust anybody and that includes the US or the government.

Mindanao is resource rich and that alone is one big attraction of this part of the country that I am proud to be living in.

We should allow all foreign investors of any race, color or country. 80% of profits goes to salaries for Filipino locals. 40% goes to the government in taxes.

Ummm perhaps my math is outdated but doesn't 80% plus 40% = 120%?

If there was no profit left for the entrepreneurs or venture capitalists then there is no point in doing business. The people putting up their investment should be allowed to receive a modest 10-20% profit, 10% should go into re-investment, and the remainder divvied up between employee pay/benefits and taxation. That said, it is incumbent upon the government to ensure the security and stability of the area to ensure a safe environment for investment.

No guarantee of security = no investment.
