(Quote) MANILA, Philippines - A top official of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) warned Friday that calls for war against the MILF will only fuel the Bangsamoro people's separatist aspirations. "

this is exactly what we want, a division among the muslim communities, and their public opinion to isolate the MILFs and ASGs, this will help in the psyops. We also need to show to the media the atrocities of the ASGs and MILFs in the field on how they mutilate and behead our soldiers. this will have a devastating effects in public and world opinion against the rebels and will loose support. let us not treat the moderate muslims like our enemies we should work with them and give them the respect they expect. this will make it more divisive in the muslim population

The Poor performance of the Military just reflects the poor performance of the Commander in Chief.

Simple as that.

Dont blame it to the coup plotter, lack of equipment and training etc etc. It is the responsibility of the Commander in Chief to crush the coup plotter and to uplift the morale of the troops to discourage them of joining coup, by raising their salaries and benefits, modernization including medical facilities and hardwares.
Modernization should prioritize:

Patrol Ships with air/sub/ship detection, fast & lightly armed for Navy.
Surface Attack Aircraft with anti ship/sub attack capability for Airforce.
SAM with Radars, Close AA battery capable of shooting ground targets too for Army.
This triangle defense will work together and protect us from external threats.

PNoy was right when he decided to instead get the facts straight before we attack.

For the military they only think of getting even or leveling out the casualty number.

For the President, he consider all aspects like economy, the collateral damage, the cost of waging a full-scale war and the danger of spreading the war to Manila.

That's the difference between an emotional military commander and a thinking civilian leader.

Let's see, we havent even seen PNoy spending much time with major infrastructure developments in the country. Totally different leader compared with GMA. We need some leader who can well balance the progress in the philippines, focusing not only in the military but elsewhere as well:

> RP is in badly need of a grand international airport as the main gateway for tourism as well overall.

> Need find solution to over population problem (philippines just hit the 101M mark population!) and relocating squatters away from every corner of the cities, need new decent yet low cost housing projects for low income families and all that squatters.

> Upgrade the overall educational system.

> Better health care system.

> End the war in mindanao by all means without compromising the economy and without commiting genocides.

If only PNoy achieve atleast the 5 of these, we'll be really proud of him and perhaps he may be considered as the best ever president we ever had after Marcos.

PNoy wasnt my bet in the last election.

but whether we like it or not, he is the President now.

we must support him to succeed and through that the realization of a better nation.

i can understand the slowdown in the infra because he ordered the review of all big projects to check on greed money during the past administration.

let's give him time.

the focus he is giving to the AFP modernization is better than the past regimes anyway.

Agree, but that does not stop us from criticizing his action if warranted. I did not vote for him but he I'm stuck with him. Anyway, as I predicted the biggest drag about him is his absolute incapacity to inspire people. I rank this trait in a President to be No. 1 that one must have. After all the President in our case is not only the head of government he is also the head of our state. Like a monarch, he must inspire confidence.

I don't know if it's just me but he looks like a wimp, the sort that always gets bullied in grade school. He is not inspiring at all...

he maybe weak but sometimes it is the most positive character we can rely on making him listen to the people and be sensitive enough to criticism which will discourage him from committing plunder.

look at the past strong leaders?

they were too deaf to listen to the people's cry and that enabled them to plunder the nation to their greed's content. :nono:

While not the ideal Lee Kuan Yew (strong, defense-sensitive, market-oriented, pragmatic and with academician-like refinement) like leader that I'm looking for, I liked the leadership of Frmr. Pres. Ramos. I know he is not perfect but he get things done. And most important, he commands control and respect.
