they should declare martial law in mindanao. this is getting out of control. too many casualties, it looks like the government forces are being defeated in battle. and MILF keep saying their territories? thats it, what kind of s@#t is that? do government forces need to ask permission to enter their territories? sound like independence to me. I don't know but this does not look good. the goverment better make some better and new strategy to contain this moros. maybe our forces need to encircle the rebel controlled areas and cut their supply lines and starve them. then bombard them with air strikes. somebody has to come out of something to stop this massacres on us. |

Martial law and bring back into force the anti-subversion law so to limit their movements in the city as well. It is getting very hostile here in Mindanao especially the areas that border the ARMM. |

Sri Lanka did it with the Tamil Tigers and the Russians did it with the Chechen rebels. What is stopping our government to ensure that no further breaches will occur. All I have heard from the peace panel is that it is an "isolated incident", what a load of :bs:. |

its about time that the Army should improve or upgrade its capability by having their own Light Air-Support Helicopter Fleet armed with twin 7.62mm machine guns and Grenade Launchers. When I saw the pictures of a one of the wounded when he was carries down the Huey he was bleeding and being carried by a fellow soldier. I think the time has come to consider having aerial medievac that can tend to the wounds of the soldier while in flight so that to limit or prevent further damage in the body like blood loss. |

I agree. The government should not let this one go unpunished. The MILF could have warned those SR troops that they were entering the area controlled by the them and not murdering them. How could they rest assure the government of their seriousness for a peaceful resolution in mindanao if they keep this war going? They are the one who is asking for an independent state and so they should learn how to respect the government by not using violence to suppress and force this country to heed on their demands. At the other hand, the RP troops next time should have atleast coordinate their intentions to enter any of the MILF areas to avoid any more confrontations like this without risking more lives. |

Who is the MILF to claim any territory in the Republic of the Philippines, also according to Cabangbang the troops were not inside areas that the MILF are "illegallly" claiming. |

According to ABS-CBN, 19 is the death toll. This is the report: Mula kahapon, sunud-sunod ang pagdating ng mga sugatang sundalo sa Zamboanga City mula Al-Barka, Basilan. Sa Western Mindanao Command, hindi magkamayaw ang mga medics at sundalo para tulungan ang mga sugatan. Dumating din ang ilang nasawi. Nagkabakbakan ang militar at diumano'y MILF sa Al-Barka, Basilan Martes ng madaling araw. Nagpapatrol diumano ang mga sundalo sa Barangay Bakisung para tugisin ang armadong grupong sangkot sa ilang kidnapping pero bigla na lang silang pinaulanan ng bala sa area. Sa pinakahuling tala ng militar, umabot na sa 19 ang patay at 12 ang sugatan. Ayon sa militar, mahirap tukuyin ang bilang ng mga kalaban. “The encounter took several hours. In an interview on ANC's Dateline Philippines, AFP Western Mindanao Command spokesman Lt. Col. Randolph Cabangbang said, “[the attack] was engaged by Long Malat, who is not a member of the MILF, he is just a simple bandit leader.” The firefight, which started in the morning, thereafter “gave the opportunity for other armed groups to join, not because they have something against our soldiers, but they want to help their relatives [from the bandit group]…” He said the area was 4 kilometers away from an MILF territory. As such, the MILF can’t blame the government for supposedly violating a ceasefire agreement, he added. The military suffered 13 soldiers killed, 12 injured, and 10 still missing. Of the 12 injured, 2 have been brought to a city hospital to undergo delicate surgeries. The 2 sustained gunshots to the face, Cabangbang said. |
