“They did not intrude into MILF areas,” Cabangbang said

News In a Flash

There are no MILF areas.

There is only the sovereign territory of the Republic of the Philippines.

RIP to the fallen heroes.

All efforts to find and recover the still missing soldiers should be exerted.

Update:

6 of 8 captured soldiers in Basilan executed — Army

Quote:

Suspected Moro rebels had executed six of the eight elite soldiers they captured following Tuesday's bloody encounter in Al-Barka town in Basilan province, bringing the number of military fatalities to 19 — the biggest in nearly five years.

Army spokesman Col. Antonio Parlade said the bodies of the six have already been recovered while one soldier was still missing and another already in the custody of Scout Rangers.

"Nakita na 'yung anim, buhay kagabi na-capture, pinatay na nila, so they murdered actually yung anim," Parlade said Wednesday.

It was the biggest number of fatalities the military has suffered since 2007 when Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) fighters killed 14 soldiers, some of them beheaded, in an encounter also in Al-Barka town.

"They were murdered," Parlade said of the six, whose bodies were found in Barangay Bato-Bato in Al-Barka.

walang katuturan ang ceasefire sa kanila. sabihin naman nila, splinter group naman yan. ayaw nila ng ceasefire. those involved should be accorded the same as to what happened to the poor soldiers :fire:

These incidents (including the recent bombings) are the fall-out for trusting the MILF in adhering to the peace talks. The MILF are not different from the Chicoms. They speak nicely "kuno" in political dialogues but their actions speak otherwise.

Hanggang kelan pa ba tayo magpapa-uto?
Kailan pa kaya tayo matututo?

If only we have attack helicopters, MBTs and IFVs, the outcome would have been different. Much different...

Taps to the fallen and neglected heroes. :salute:

there should be an investigation on what went wrong as far as tactics so mistakes will not be repeated. the MILF must have develop some new tatics or defenses that the army should know. Im sure they will interview the WIA on the lapses in the assault.

we should retaliate and destroy and deny them any camps that are known.

PNOY, magsecret meeting ka pa sa mga "mamatay tao" na mga yan.

If you are reading this I hope this is a wake up call to you and your administration that talking to the MILF and other separatist group as both dangerous and a stupid move at best.

I also heard that in GMA and ABS-CBN their are statements that this is only a "isolated incident", for this is the most stupid thing that they can say.

Palace orders probe into Basilan ambush
by Willard Cheng, ABS-CBN News
Posted at 10/19/2011 2:32 PM | Updated as of 10/19/2011 6:44 PM

MANILA, Philippines - Malacañang assured the relatives of the soldiers killed in Basilan that there will be no whitewash in the investigation of the clash between government and Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) forces.

“Nakikiisa po kami sa kanila. Alam ko po mayroong isang kapatid ng isang sundalo na nagpa-interview po at sinasabing natatakot daw po silang baka daw po magkaroon ng whitewash. Hindi po yun mangyayari,” deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said.

Valte also conveyed the Palace’s condolences to the relatives of the soldiers.

Asked about the soldiers who have been reportedly held hostage, Valte said that the government is “working on finding them.”

She said that AFP chief of staff Eduardo Oban Jr. has asked the Inspector General “to go to Basilan to ascertain the facts.”

'An isolated incident'

In a statement, Marvic Leonen, chairman of the government peace panel in talks with the MILF, said he was "saddened to receive news from Basilan about a misencounter that started at 5:30 a.m. yesterday, October 18, 2011 at Sitio Bakisong, Cambug Village, Al-Barka town."

"We are also informed that the incident has caused some casualties. Some civilians have also been evacuated as a result of the incident. They are already being attended to by the relevant government units. The fighting has already stopped. We are certain that this is an isolated incident. This armed confrontation was not intended by both government and MILF," he said.

"We are confident that the current mechanisms for monitoring violations of the ceasefire agreement are in place and are effectively working. With the assistance of the Armed Forces of the Philippines as well as the ceasefire committees, we hope to be able to get a clearer picture of the causes of this incident.

"In the meantime, the government panel in talks with the MILF is preparing for a meeting with its counterparts next month."

The AFP should make its move for Vengence.
