Moros smell fear: Don’t be surprised if they continue to pillage and kill.
The only time they will stop their mayhem and plunder is when the government launches a punitive expedition like what President Erap did when he was in power.
The Moros, especially the Tausugs, love to fight, and how!

The only way to earn their respect is to fight back instead of cowering in fear.

to some extent, the writer was right.

that's why it is essential to balance the application of power and consideration for the effects of the war.

when you disregard any, either you're a coward or a stupid warmonger. :thumb:

MILF hits operation

MILF spokesperson Von Al Haq denounced the military operations as a violation of the ceasefire agreement.

“There are hard-headed people inside the military. With this new action, they are making the situation worse,” he said, adding that innocent people were put at risk.
He insisted that any move against MILF forces facing criminal cases should be directed to the Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities.

The air strikes happened as the International Monitoring Team and other peace groups were on their way to Zamboanga Sibugay to investigate the weekend incidents, according to Al Haq.

Lieutenant General Raymundo Ferrer, head of the Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom), said in a statement the military and police would continue joint operations in Zamboanga Sibugay against the MILF faction of  Waning Abdulsalam, which was blamed for the killings of eight soldiers and policemen.

Ferrer said Abdulsalam “should be brought to justice for all the past kidnappings and extortions done by him and his group. The clamor of the people from Zamboanga Sibugay is to end Abdulsalam’s notoriety,” said the Westmincom chief.

http://newsinfo.inquirer.net/82385/paf-bombs-moro-rebels

if these kidnappings and extortions were true, then these bandits must be punished.

there should be no let up on the air strikes until this group is eliminated.

they must not be allowed to seek refuge in any MILF camp.

attack the camp if they are allowed refuge.

for the MILF to spare the lives of its innocent people, it must surrender to the military these wanted criminals.

so, it's about the bounty now?
Quote:

The P2-million bounty each on the heads of an Abu Sayyaf terrorist leader and a fugitive Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) commander may have caused the haphazard mission that led to the deaths of 19 soldiers in Al-Barka, Basilan last week, sources alleged.

http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/nation/10/25/11...al-barka-fiasco

so who would have gotten the money if in case the SF got the targets?

nevertheless, this one below is the most bothering statement;
Quote:

Macario, in his exit briefing Monday, said the Al-Barka operation was legitimate.

He said they were coordinating with an MILF official, Hudlimaya Salim, before the operation was launched.

if it was indeed coordinated, then why did they attack the Army troops?

did that MILF official really informed the men there to stand down?

was he authorized to order the men to stand down or to relay the message to the higher ups in the MILF?

or was he the one who tipped off the MILF ..... and told them to attack the Army troops instead of letting them pass?

if this guy and the MILF deliberately attacked the troops despite the efforts of Macario to notify them, then the MILF group in Basilan must be punished heavily.

Word of advise, pls keep your ideas about Colombian military against the Philippine military in Philippine forums, you'll embarrass us.

Our military is increasingly the worst joke in Asia.

then maybe you should join the Columbian military. What the Israeli trained us was counter terrorism in urban warfare and not jungle warfare. We just lack the modern tools and logistics in addition to some of our corrupt military officials like Angelo Reyes, FVR, Gen Garcia, Gen Ligot, etc. these are the people who destroyed our armed forces not mentioning our politicians who do not have the political will for the modernization. they think money spent in arms buildup is a waste and be better channeled to their pockets. If you look at the Columbia armed forces they have better equipments and logistics while ours is in the state of antiquity. But for know how, we are better than the Columbians. only if our leaders have the discipline to put everything in order. You are the one who embarass us, you have no confidence in your own kind, are you a Filipino? or just another colonial mind.

Aquino gave Murad P5M
Written by : JAIME PILAPIL REPORTER AND JERRY N. ADLAW CORRESPONDENT
The Manila Times
Wednesday, October 26, 2011

PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino 3rd reportedly gave P5 million to Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Chairman Al Haj Murad Ibrahim during their secret meeting in a hotel in Tokyo, Japan on August 5.

Reports said that it was Malacañang peace adviser Marvic Leonen who handed the P5-million check to Murad.

Palace deputy spokesman Abigail Valte would neither confirm nor deny the transaction.

“I will have to check the details on that,” Valte told reporters during Tuesday’s briefing. She said, however, that if President Aquino did give P5 million to the MILF leader, it would be for social alleviation, education and other needs of the Muslim people.

But sources said that it was possible that the money was used to buy guns and ammunition.

Malacañang earlier said that the P5 million was ordered released by Mr. Aquino specifically to be used for the Bangsamoro Leadership and Management Institute (BLIMI), a mechanism intended to train young Muslim leaders and proposed by the MILF during earlier negotiations.

There were other reports, though, claiming that the money was not given during the President’s surreptitious visit to Tokyo, but during a meeting of the government peace panel and its MILF counterpart sometime in August.

Another foolish Makabayan. Everything about the Philippines is topnotch! Our military is even World class! Yeah, dream on. Unless we accept that we don't have the best officers, training, knowledge, right attitude, we will not improve.

If the Israelis only trained us in urban warfare why did you claim that we don't need them or the Colombians for advise/training anymore? If we have not yet trained in jungle warfare it's high time we enlist the help of the Colombians who has exhibited excellent jungle warfare expertise (and imagination). Most of the fighting against the FARC happened in the jungles of Colombia and its neighbors. Even in urban warfare, we have to constantly update. The 90s was ages ago and since then valuable lessons have been learned by Israel and the US in urban warfare from their experiences in Lebanon, Gaza, Iraq and Afghanistan. We cannot learn from those experiences since we were not there (hell, even in our own combat encounters it seems that we have not learned anything). But through training programs or joint-trainings we will learn them.

You see, it is foolish for us to claim that we know everything already. Our experiences in Mindanao constantly remind us that our military and Police still have a long way to match the skills of our counterparts in Israel or Colombia.

BTW, if it's has any connection to topic, I'm a resident of Zamboanga City, only 45 mins. away from Basilan by ferry. Our militarymen simply does not impress me. Case in point, in early 2000s a faction of the MNLF loyal to Nur Misuari assembled a ragtag force in Cabatangan threatening Zamboanga City, and only several kilometers away from then the main military camp in Mindanao Southcom. The AFP and PNP lunched operations to drive them out of the area. But the operation was pathetic in its clumsiness. I can see the Broncos dropping bombs almost aimlessly in the area. Helicopters were circling overhead and firing machine guns into the ground. In the end those groups slipped away from the dragnet and even took hostages! Shameful really. So pls don't lecture me about how great our military is, it's pathetic! (BTW, where was your claimed Israeli urban warfare training skills at that time?)

@ Hitman

BTW, it's not Columbia, it's Colombia. "Columbia" is a name commonly applied to the United States in the late 18th century (and since then some places in the US have adopted that name) while "Colombia" is a country in South America. We should keep on learning.

the FARC were defeated because they were weak compared to the rebels in the Philippines who are smart and have mastered the art of guerilla warfare, in addition the FARC lost the support from Hugo Chavez of Venezuela who used to be their supplier so now they are short of their supplies thats why they lost. It is not that the Colombians or Columbians sound the same to me, army are good. I have doubts with their skills compared to ours. We had some victories too like the capture and killing of most of the ASGs, but guerillas are just hard to defeat especially if they had the support of the villagers in depressed areas, look at Vietnam how the US lost to a rag tag VCs and North Vietnamese Army. And you add the corruption in our AFP then of course its going to be an uphill battle. The capture of commander Dante, Joe Ma Sison, etc. so forget about your Columbian friends dude. they are probably sniffing cocaine by now.

FARC weak? Please read a little background on FARC. You can start with the reaidly accessible Wikipedia: htttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revolutionary_Armed_Forces_of_Colombia. At one point FARC and ELN (sister marxist group) controlled about 30%-40% of Colombia. They were among the most well funded and armed insurgent groups as they have their own coca plantations and they were aided by some of the leftists governments in South America.

You don't know what you're talikng about.

p.s. High Tech weapons are useless without strategy, tactics, discipline, and proper and constant training. Right now, we not only lack weapons, we lack also startegy, tactics, discipline as a fighting force and training.
