ZAMBOANGA, Philippines (3rd UPDATE) - Twelve government soldiers were killed while 10 others went missing in a gunbattle with the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on Tuesday, the military said. Fighting erupted at dawn between a military special forces unit and MILF troops on the southern island of Basilan, said the regional military spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Randolph Cabangbang. It looks like an ambush to me, surprised attack by the MILF against a group of government special units. And it must be a special unit from MILF given the fact that they inflicted heavy casualties in the government side. What a waste tsk....  RIP to the fallen. |

RIP to the fallen. The Goverment would need to make sure that justice is given to the fallen and make sure the MILF is really sincere in the peace negotitations. |

I remember that incident in which a group of soldiers were all beheaded and their bodies were place behind a pick up truck, such travesty and pain. One of the priest that bless their body was a Jesuit in Ateneo and my former teacher and friend. |

It's a never ending cycle how can it be stopped, how many families will grieved before it all ends, how many children, wife and parents so burden for this useless killing? Human lives are precious it cannot be duplicate. Mindanao's cause is a deadlock it cannot be settled in the next 50 years, expect military to retaliate so it's same thing. |
