We are up against a "brick Wall" of China and we don't have the tools to even to knock a chip out of it, the only thing that's keeping them from running us over is a piece of 60 year old agreement on a piece of paper, sad to say...

It seems Vietnamese got some balls

Hanoi: Vietnam President Truong Tan Sang today said India and other foreign nations were welcome to explore hydrocarbons in areas within his country’s jurisdiction, as he sought to deepen strategic and defence ties with New Delhi.

Ahead of his maiden state visit to India from Tuesday, President Sang said the objectives of his trip are to continue to strengthen friendship between the two peoples, reinforce, deepen and add greater substance to bilateral strategic partnership.

Those are quite impressive war machines. Maybe its time to seriously consider the government of india as the philippines' next military partner since the indians have already cooperating with vietnam, and are now present at WPS.

While it's really good if the philippines can ever manage to remain peace with china without compromising our national interests in WPS, while the AFP is upgrading their capabilities. But the RP government seem to have slowed down on their military acquisition process, and are pretty quiet.

Vietnam has long realized that it cannot withstand Chinese expansion alone on the long-run - hence why Vietnam is seeking to establish closer military ties with India. The Philippine would be wise to emulate this example: the Indians have no interest in expanding far away in that region (in terms of imperialism and land-grabbing) - the Chinese, however, do.
We should also further deepen our ties with Indonesia, South-Korea and Japan (and inofficially with Taiwan).

India has a good arms industry and economy not to mention their partner in weapons development which is Russia has long been fuming over Chinese attempts to copy their weapons. In reality China has little influence or can give pressure on India as the Indians do not have any string attach towards China.

Like most of us, India have border dispute with China that resulted to skirmishes.
Modernization should prioritize:

Patrol Ships with air/sub/ship detection, fast & lightly armed for Navy.
Surface Attack Aircraft with anti ship/sub attack capability for Airforce.
SAM with Radars, Close AA battery capable of shooting ground targets too for Army.
This triangle defense will work together and protect us from external threats.

India doesnt really like war. They are a peaceful country, mostly always on defensive stance, never been aggressive. I dont know but maybe because Hindus and Sikhs are mostly peaceful religions. Atleast they are not like those buddhists who always give you the buddha's face, but deep inside you dont know what were they thinking about you. Im just saying, its hard to deal with people that are unpredictable.
