CHINA DEMANDS WAR

The lead article the Chinese Communist Party newspaper Global Times on Tuesday contained an alarming call for a declaration of war against Vietnam and Philippines, two nations that in recent weeks launched the loudest protests against China’s sweeping maritime sovereignty claims over the South China Sea.

Headlined “The Time to Use Force Has Arrived in the South China Sea; Let’s Wage Wars on the Philippines and Vietnam to Prevent More Wars,” the article was written by Long Tao, a likely pseudonym literally translated as “The Dragon’s Teaching.” The name refers to the third chapter of the famous Chinese ancient military classic “Six Secret Military Teachings” that, among other things, promotes the idea that the best way to establish military awesomeness is to kill the highest-ranked dissenters.

Vietnam is viewed by China as the most militarily capable state whose government is the most politically uncompromising when it comes to challenging China’s territorial claims in the South China Sea.

The Philippines recently riled China greatly for its closeness to Japan, and its cantankerous and successful move last week to hold talks within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, without inviting China, on cooperating and clarifying consensual and disputed claims in the South China Sea.

The fiery rhetoric of the article states that “the South China Sea is the best place for China to wage wars” because “of the more than 1,000 oil rigs there, none belongs to China; of the four airfields in the Spratly Islands, none belongs to China; once a war is declared, the South China Sea will be a sea of fire [with burning oil rigs]. Who will suffer the most from a war? Once a war starts there, the Western oil companies will flee the area, who will suffer the most?”

The article further calculates that “the wars should be focused on striking the Philippines and Vietnam, the two noisiest troublemakers, to achieve the effect of killing one chicken to scare the monkeys.”

What about possible U.S. intervention once China starts a war in the South China Sea? No worry, the article states, because the U.S. will be utterly unable to open a second front in the South China Sea to fight China because it is deeply mired in the anti-terror wars of the Middle East.

The Global Times is China’s largest paper focusing on international news under direct sponsorship from the Communist Party central authority.

There is nothing we could anyway, if they intend to land a ballistic missile in manila, they can because of our brilliant military geniuses.

But they should stop war mongering, because if they shoot us, it just give the west a reason to attack, and that is last thing they need, a world war to save their economy from crisis. They must be watching too much movies, didn't they know almost all of their neighbor is itching to gang up this bully.
Modernization should prioritize:

Patrol Ships with air/sub/ship detection, fast & lightly armed for Navy.
Surface Attack Aircraft with anti ship/sub attack capability for Airforce.
SAM with Radars, Close AA battery capable of shooting ground targets too for Army.
This triangle defense will work together and protect us from external threats.

China is just trying to scare the region into submission, besides it is economically counterproductive as China enjoys a much more comfortable economic couch than the US or it's allies. But if the Chinese were serious to go to war against us only I see us repeating the same sad part of our history and that is we have not learned from the past aggression and occupation that our country has experience. A lot of people say that developing nuclear weapons are bad, many state that buying Russian or non-US weaponry would damage our so-called "Special Relationship" with the US.

For me if war does break out in our region, well if we are destine to do the same mistakes before then so be it.

If you look at the situation between India and China, why is China not that aggressive with the Indian's and when India started sending ships and oil exploration equipment near Vietnam the Chinese went completely berserk. For the reason why China is not that aggressive towards India than the nations in SE Asia is because of India's nuclear deterrent. India has a small but credible nuclear deterrent that is giving the Indian's the confidence in facing against China. I remember when India was developing the "bomb" that their economy is not that much booming during that time.

Beefing up our conventional forces like acquiring more MRV's, MRFs, and modernizing the ground forces must be given more importance but we must also increase the field of interest in acquiring advance air defense assets which involves high altitude, medium altitude and low altitude capable SAM's and high performance gun/missile systems must be also adopted.

I believe the reality that China is not foolish into going a regional conflict but we must accept the reality as well that like any world power or nation it has it's fair share of "Hardliners" or "Ultra-nationalist" that might one day take control of that nations military.

For me China only understands and respects only two things and that is Money and Power. Words of comfort and pieces of paper are just insignificant and useless. As a phrase of Paul Medina Jr.'s comic strip "He who has the bomb makes the rules".

Another factor is Vietnam's increasing motivation to create and build up a nuclear power industry in their country. Just recently Vietnam and Russia signed a deal in developing nuclear power in October 2010.

But China will not attack us directly. They can attack us using there economic influence. And that is the scary part. Then they can attack are OFW.

They will never won if they attack us "Directly". Chinese did not won a single war againts us. remember the vietnam war and korean .
