For me it is absolutely unacceptable if the US has a presence here in Mindanao, I view them as a threat to our business and with the fact they are willing to talk to these rebels increases my suspicion and the suspicion of my family and our business partners. |

Well, I thought we are here in Mindanao to deter Malaysian interests. |

Malaysian interest must also be address, I always have a suspicion that the Malay's support MILF or MNLF so that to keep our attention away from Sabah. It is not old news around here that majority of the funding for the Moro rebellion comes from Malaysia. |

Attention, unconfirmed reports have surface that the US has increased its presence here in Mindanao. I asked and verified this to my friends, especially my friend who is working in the Zamboanga City International Airport, he stated that US planes or chartered flights which are manned by American crews have been conducting ever increasing visits here. To further add to our suspicion one of my friends stated that one of our soldiers who wanted to inspect their cargo's was aggressively replied to "Back off" even stating that he has no business in inspecting their cargo. To add further suspicion that soldier was remove from the airport security detail and reassigned. |

The Malays are the biggest problem we have in Mindanao, not the canos. I have already figured that on my own by working closely with my friends across multiple socio-economic spectrums in the Zamboanga area. I know the political families, who they are connected with, their dirty laundry and who is funding their campaigns and/or business projects. I know how has been getting guns for who. I know who has been sleeping with who. The Canos are simply trying to protect their gear and their technology. You cannot fault them for that. It will also depend on what context your "friend" approached them. Considering many people based at EAAB have ulterior motives that consists of lining their pockets with US dollars you can't blame them for being standoffish. I don't have problems because I am not looking for a handout and I don't act like a pompous ass (Ferrer and countless others I could name). You gain trust and you gain information by not looking for handouts, payola, kickbacks, bribes or favors. You help people, you work with them, you cooperate. Understand their needs and eloquently convey yours. The canos have their problems and flaws but the other countries meddling in our internal affairs are creating bigger ones... The presence of the american have improved the safety and security of our citizens in zamboanga and as a result have helped increase business in zamboanga. I know this first hand. To state otherwise is ludicrous and ignorant. I have watched the canos build road after road, school, civic center and more every month in areas that have been completely ignored by Muslim and Philippine government politicians. I have been all over Basilan, Jolo/Sulu and Tawi Tawi and have seen the enormous improvements the canos have made in the quality of life for the muslims and the Christians. To discredit the efforts the americans have made on OUR behalf is selfish, to accuse them of being the bigger enemy is ignorant. I agree it appears the americans have grown in their presence on EAAB, Navarro and elsewhere but that presence has significantly increased their ability to provide us with the support we need to exterminate the shitbags who are trying to keep us locked in the 15th century in the name of a distorted religion. Don't crap on our allied just because they have not stuck handouts in your pocket or your "friends" pocket. That is not the way you do business and that is not the way our country will pull itself out of the mess we are in. We are better than that. |

The Americans and the Malays are both the problems, they have interest in Mindanao and they are attempting to gain access to natural resources here and that is the reason that they are supporting the MILF so that they can have a direct link and not get tangled on the national governments politics. Defending the US interest here is like defending or hiding a accomplice. Ever since the Wikileaks revelation, the people here especially who are not ignorant or "losers" have started realizing that the US cannot be trusted or even be taken seriously. |

Even the Pro-US social elites here in Zamboanga city and the rest of the peninsula have started to become very disturb with the US actions and behaviors here especially those who own mining operations here as they see a potential US minggling in their business activity. One of my uncles who own a mining company had to evacuate all his personel from a mining site and the other mining companies evacuated as well. For them the US is trying to get rid of them and that makes them very unhappy. |

Large private armies, also owned by Mining Operators allied with local officials have been accussed of human rights violations and harrasiment of the local pupulace. Hence, which have caused people to rebel, and lives lost and endangered. That is why the US State Department discreetly do not particularly like some Filipino social elites. |
