Posts: 2,503 Group: Elite Member #7,006 Joined: August 16, 2011	MILF mix it with US is a very dicey issue, I spoke with my friends who have a vested interest in Zamboanga and other parts of Mindanao that the US is really going to solicit a angry response from the people who are oppose to this idea. Many view it as a intrusion already and not a beneficial dialogue, speaking to the MILF behind the backs of those who are going to be affected will cause more ultra-nationalistic attitudes and spur more Anti-American sentiments.

China never acted on that. Russia didn't as well. It was only the US and some NATO allies. Imagine if the US and NATO did not intervene? So, you see, the global game is complex. I hate to say this but somehow the ambiguity in the foreign policy brought about by an action that is counter to good reason should be looked at in a longer term or wider perspective. Even if the US does broker a peace or a sub-state deal here, do you honestly believe we will just sit down and allow a couple of foreigners to dictate how we should treat this situation.

Member Posts: 464 Group: Regulars Member #6,124 Joined: December 14, 2010	For those of you that live in Zamboanga..how many times as you lined up at the malls to check in your weapons did you see muslim families checking in an arsenal...I even saw a muslim grandma packing heat. I guess she was protecting her virtue. Very rarely did I see the Christians unload weapons on that scale. Excluding military on military, My Christian friends from Zamboanga lost many friends to Muslim attacks. My Muslim friends lost no family members to Christian violence. My Christian friends have been threatened and harrassed on a weekly and almost daily basis on a number of issues. They have lost out on a number of business dealing where the Muslims refused to pay for services or goods rendered despite having been delivered in good faith by the Christians. One of my best friends from Zamboanga was even kidnapped and ransomed by the Muslims. He alone has lost at least 6 family members and very close friends over the past 20 years to Muslim violence. In an odd note though..when I asked both sides about the usa presence, they were both unanimous that they preferred the american presence than not. The presence of the americans was key to the growth and prosperity of Zamboanga. There are still problems in free trade, economics and politics due to influence by some specific families (Yes, you bet I damn well know who they are) and interference by the Malaysians but by and large things are better.

Muslim's like to brag about the weapons they carry but they do not know what we Christians have.
