The P2.3 Billion is for the PAF SAR helicopters and not for the Navy, the PN will get P2.65 for the cost of additional cutters and the 3 naval helicopters which will most likely be use for the 3 (1+2 more) Hamilton class cutters...

This is good news, at least the money goes to something that would benefit our country by guarding our maritime territories and resources. Also PNoy government is more transparent than the previous one, 9 years term tapos wala man lang malaking acquisition for the Modernization of our External Defense. Nung matatapos na ang term like 8 months prior to ending its term, saka lang naisip bumili ng Military hardware and yet may Anomaly pa like acquisition ng AH helicopter with and without NV Capability plus yung RAVEN I acquistion by PNP sold as Bnew even if its 2nd hand.. |

P 20B for this year's modernization? I hope this is true.. We can buy brand new OPV, patrol boats or even a missile boat. Maj. Enrico Gil Ileto, Armed Forces deputy public affairs chief, explained that the P4.95-billion fund was taken from the P8-billion fund promised by the DOE. “If we remember, Malacañang had announced an initial special fund of P11.9 billion for the Armed Forces modernization—P8 billion from DOE and the remaining P3.9 billion will be shouldered by the Armed Forces from its modernization fund,” Ileto said. He explained that the P11.9 billion is separate from the P40 billion that Malacañang had earlier earmarked for the Armed Forces modernization. “We understand that the P11.9 billion is a special fund separate from the earmarked P40-billion fund that will be coming from the General Appropriations Act,” Ileto said. http://www.businessmirror.com.ph/home/nati...r-modernization |

Well if you will observe the previous administration concentrates on cash flow, remember that all this good news of modernization came from its projects such as the malampaya project, we haven't heard of the galoc yet, nido-matinloc and benham has not started yet even though the previous admin already made the initiative to the UN regarding rights. I think having a male president is also good because of their war frea...aggressive nature to make sure the military get theirs. Remember that Erap and FVR did want modern hardware but they dont have the money to where to get it having been hit by the 1997 asian financial crisis that we are lucky we did not endure during the 2008 recession. So Pnoy is really lucky to have lots of credit to his disposal during his term. And lucky for us he has an idea what an attack helicopter means and not those ravens the pnp bought. |

Modernization should prioritize: Patrol Ships with air/sub/ship detection, fast & lightly armed for Navy. Surface Attack Aircraft with anti ship/sub attack capability for Airforce. SAM with Radars, Close AA battery capable of shooting ground targets too for Army. This triangle defense will work together and protect us from external threats. | |

Azkal tnx for the correction..the 2.3 b is indeed for the air force..and the 2.65 is for the PN for 1 WHEC because we are set to receive another one either before the year ends or the first quarter of next year, 3 naval helos and coastal system. total of 4.95 b plus 0.5 B for goryo that leaves 6.45 billion for 2011..still enough for our third goryo, maritime patrol aircrafts, repair of military infrastructures and contruction of bases..more patrol water crafts and surface attack aircrafts and PA acquisitions |

Paratorpe.. the malampaya gas fields were discovered during the time of Cory Aquino . It ws during her time that drillings and testing were done to insure viability of project..this continued up to the Ramos administration with contruction of facilities and GMAs time when those facilities were inaugurated. So maswerte rin si pandak kasi minana niya ung project na di kanya from the beginning.. During her time money coming from the malampaya were used for buying golf shares for their executives as well as use for other questionable projects.. |

cquisition Update: Coast Guard Holds “In-Commission Special” Ceremony for Third National Security Cutter, Stratton September 6, 2011 National Security Cutter Irwin Edenzon, corporate vice president of Huntington Ingalls Industries, and Rear Adm. John Korn, assistant commandant for acquisition, sign the key to Stratton at an “in-commission special” ceremony held Sept. 2. U.S. Coast Guard photo by Petty Officer 3rd Class Casey J. Ranel. The U.S. Coast Guard held an “in-commission special” ceremony to acknowledge preliminary acceptance of the third National Security Cutter, Stratton, Sept. 2 in Pascagoula, Miss. “In-commission special” status begins when the Coast Guard crew takes possession of the vessel and moves aboard the cutter. Not to be confused with a formal commissioning ceremony, the “in-commission special” ceremony represents the official transfer of ownership from the shipbuilder to the Coast Guard. Preliminary acceptance and delivery is a major milestone in Stratton’s transition to full operational status in the Coast Guard’s fleet. The ceremony marked the Coast Guard’s conditional acceptance of the cutter and documented the cutter’s inspection, delivery by the shipbuilder and receipt by the government. The Coast Guard’s Assistant Commandant for Acquisition, Rear Adm. John H. Korn, presided over the ceremony on the cutter’s flight deck and handed the keys to Stratton’s Prospective Commanding Officer, Capt. Charles Cashin. "It’s an understatement to say that a lot of work goes into getting a cutter ready for delivery to the Coast Guard,” Korn said. “Stratton recently completed builder's trials and acceptance trials, where the ship had to pass more than 60 tests, adding up to a total of more than 400 tests, which have to be passed leading up to acceptance." Stratton is scheduled to depart Pascagoula for Pensacola, Fla., on her first sail away around Oct. 7. The cutter is expected to depart Pensacola for its homeport of Alameda, Calif., near the end of October. Final acceptance of Stratton will occur following a year-long warranty period and completion of final acceptance trials. The Stratton is named for Capt. Dorothy Stratton, who became the first director of the U.S. Coast Guard Women’s Reserve, known as the SPARs, in 1942. The Stratton is the first Coast Guard cutter to be sponsored by a first lady and was christened by Michelle Obama on July 23, 2010. The 418-foot Stratton is the third ship in the Legend-class of National Security Cutters (NSCs) designed to be the flagship of the Coast Guard’s recapitalized fleet, capable of executing the most challenging maritime safety and security missions around the globe. The first two NSCs, Bertholf and Waesche, are fully operational and performing missions in the field. The Coast Guard plans to acquire eight NSCs. Victor O. Teves |

This is your previous post paratorpe you figure it yourself why you got that reply: "Well if you will observe the previous administration concentrates on cash flow, remember that all this good news of modernization came from its projects such as the malampaya project, we haven't heard of the galoc yet, nido-matinloc and benham has not started yet even though the previous admin already made the initiative to the UN regarding rights.
