i agree with you. with regards to Russia's P-800, the US and Israel is opposing the sale of P-800 to Syria. Israel considers this weaponry capable of posing significant danger to its navy vessels in the Mediterranean Sea. Indonesia recently bought P-800 missiles, and analyst believe it will affect the balance of power in SEA. Even Vietnam has P-800s deployed in their costal area. http://www.eurasiareview.com/31052011-indo...ities-analysis/ http://www.haaretz.com/print-edition/news/...-syria-1.310443 |

The problem is that too many of our fellow Filipino's view the purchase of Russian weaponry would compromise our "special" relationship with the USA. By the way thank you for this post. Really informative and practical for our defense requirements. |

Philippines don't have a enough capable navy ships and fighter planes to defend it's territories but if Philippines have these types of Advance missiles in it's inventory the lurking forces will think twice of sending it's ships or planes in our borders. Russia will sell there advance missiles to Philippines because we de don't have any weapons embargo on us. Nonoy should get couple hundreds of these missiles and deploy it secretly around the peninsula guarded with army rangers or marines. These cheaper very effective platform of weapons will allows us to guard our borders while slowly developing a stronger advance military force and also present a strong deterrent to any advancing force into our territories. Missiles are proven effective in countering a bigger and stronger military look at the Afghan and russian war a stinger missiles turn the tide who won that war. Vietnam war Russian supplied northern Vietnam with longer range SAM's stop the B-52 carpet bombings allowed there huge infantries to get up close and level the playing field. |

Modernization should prioritize: Patrol Ships with air/sub/ship detection, fast & lightly armed for Navy. Surface Attack Aircraft with anti ship/sub attack capability for Airforce. SAM with Radars, Close AA battery capable of shooting ground targets too for Army. This triangle defense will work together and protect us from external threats. | |

Still, without a naval or air assets that has ASW capabilities, those land-based missile launchers will be almost useless. 2 things why: 1. Enemy combatant ship can easily deploy their special units to dislodge or disable those launchers via submarines. 2. Hostile ships with CIWS can shoot down those missiles, while their air assets can launch air raid as well. |

True, but these assets can be protected by pinpoint defense systems like the Buk, Tor, and Panstir systems. Also given that they are mobile and can be protected by joining them up with support from the ground forces. |

Strong partnerships with countries such as the US and India and partnerships with our SEA nation brothers to form a political and military bulwark against the evil empire. A sustained and siginificant buildup of our armed forces to include weapons systems, equipment, logistics and training. Consider the possibility of cleaning the slate of past corruption since just about all players were involved but then viciously prosecute any new incidents beyond a certain date. As much as I would love to nail those to the wall that were involved on the past it may prevent us from the reforms and advancement we need. Cleaning the slate could include repayment of monies wrongfully appropriated. Instilling a strong sense of nationalism through a multi-pronged public information campaign. Get our people smart again about what is important in life, make them proud again of being a Filipino..not the lip service I frequently hear chanted...end the empty populist mantras. Begin to rail against the chicoms. Stop glossing over what these greedy vampiristic bastards are really doing to us and our neighbors. |

Close to sounds more like reviving a 2nd version of SEATO type alliance in disguise. I would love it though.
