The President should warm up the relations with the Russians and acquire some really up to date defense weapons. S-300 long range anti-aircraft missiles paired with land based Sunburn anti-ship missiles deployed in Batanes, Palawan, Mindanao and Manila can put shield against any ships or aircrafts around the Philippines. Deployment of these missiles in Palawan and Batanes will make a chinesse sailor and pilot s@#t there pants from crossing our borders. These defense capability should be his number 1 priority. Getting planes and ships are too late at this time China won't even care if the Philippines all a sudden buys 36 F-15's or 15 Frigates it's just not enough to counter what they have. Having a S-300, sunburn missiles and finall warning that any illiegal ships or planes crossing our territories will be shot at. I hope the President read this! I think his military advisers don't have any knowledge of today's military capability. They are wasting a lot of money buying ships that a fully armed small patrol boat can sink. |

Thank God! Marami na ang nagigising ngayon! Agree an aggressive offensive and defensive posture must be adopted so that the Chinese will think twice of crossing swords with us. The current assets that we are buying or interested in acquiring do not pose a serious threat, thus we are showing that we are not keen in having any serious presence in this region. |

We should also consider acquiring and deploying K-300 Bastion or Klub-K land launch anti-ship missiles. |

Having an aggressive defense capability will give Philippines bargaining chips on the table on who gets to keep the contested Islands. China will never deploy there big destroyers and soon to be aircraft carrier cause of the Sunburn anti-ship missile will take those out easily. The Philippines could have 20-30 Sunburn missiles for the cost of that coast guard cutter. 1 WHEC vs 30 Sunburn missiles, the chinesse Navy will be scared to death with the Sunburn Missiles. Philippines don't have a lot of money and time to build a strong military ( thanks to the corupt politicians still in office) that's why get the cheapest and most capable weapons out there. Politicians are against strong military because they know that they are the one who will take em out of office. They want weak military so there private army can scare them away. I don't know how the people in the Philippines can't see this. Your internal problem is not excuse to deny the build up for external defense capability. The problem in Mindanao is not that big deal deploy 50 percent of army and marines units and comb the jungles all out once to kill and captured those rebels. Estrada took all the rebels stronghold when he was president but he agreed with the peacetalk. The rebels only declare peacetalks for them to escape and regroup. Once an all out war is declared there will be no end till all rebels are captured or dead. That is my solution in Mindanao. |

We should also purchase Brahmos Anti-Ship Missiles especially one being developed which is the Air Launch variant, the speed of the Brahmos alone is enough to overwhelm the Chinese ship defenses. |

For me the ultimate solution to end China's bullying tactic is allowing ourselves to develop and deploy nuclear weapons. That is my opinion. |

Ni84...develop nuclear weapons? Are you serious? That would be diplomatic suicide. Hell we cant even build a decent sedan let alone a nuclear weapon. Whatever meager amount of support we enjoy in the world would be replaced by vitriol and sanctions if we ever embarked on such a foolhardy endeavor. We cant even hang onto a armory of armalites. How soon before any nuclear material we would somehow create would end up on the black market. The cost of undertaking such a program would crush our economy. We simply do not have the natonal treasure to risk on such a disaster prone undertaking. The only real near and mid-term solution is a consistent plan of modernization of our armed forces coupled with basing and military cooperation agreements that are beneficial to both nations. That is the only clear way to embark on a path that protects from the scum sucking dogs of communist china. |

Tsukiyomi, that is my opinion and dream. Hindi masama mangarap, but sometimes necessity can drive some serious motives. I'll give you an example in the book "Weapons of World War III" Chapter title "Battle of the Atom", the Soviet Union was deterred from using their huge conventional forces advantage by the destructive potential of the US strategic forces but as the Soviet Nuclear and Conventional Threat grew to the point the British and French felt that the US may not use their strategic nuclear forces unless the Soviets attack the US mainland itself, when this became apparent the British especially the French developed their own independent nuclear forces. Also NATO figured that maintaining nuclear weapons are far economical than keeping a huge conventional forces. Their are security issues that must be addressed and fulfilled. That is just my opinion. As I said "Hindi Masamang Mangarap", I hope you respect my opinion and dream.
