Peace and order a priority over Spratlys, says Aquino AMITA O. LEGASPI, GMA News 11/04/2011 | 06:21 PM Peace and order in Mindanao and other areas of the country has a higher priority than boosting the defense of the Spratlys, President Benigno Aquino III said Friday on YouTube’s World View live webcast. “Embarking on a campaign for external defense at this point in time especially relative to the potential threat from countries in our region, I think is an unproductive way of utilizing the resources that we do have," Aquino said. Aquino is the first Asian head of state to participate in YouTube’s World View. He was interviewed by Ross LeJounesse, head for public policy and government affairs-Asia Pacific of Google. President Aquino explained that he prefers development solutions to peace and order problems because he believes killing the rebels is not to solution to the problem in Mindanao. “Eliminating the problem is a goal, the methodology is the question. And we believe if we do not tackle the root cause of the problem, the problem will persist," he said in the interview. “You can eliminate the personification of this problem right now but if the situation is such that there is kid who wants to study and the school does not exist, has to travel on roads that do not exist, that does have any upward mobility and we have a new generation of people who would want something better and that is but natural," Aquino elaborated. He explained that any priority spending on the military and police he would rather allocate to improve the living conditions of armed service personnel and incremental modernization of their equipments. The country was able to acquire a Hamilton class cutter from the United States and is hoping to get perhaps one, two or three more. “We were also getting several other patrol crafts, when I say several [I mean] quite a substantial number. Aircrafts, helicopters are already in the pipeline both for the Navy, the Coast Guard and the Air Force," he said. Aquino clarified that he is more keen on providing housing to soldiers and police officers. The President expects to turn over 20,000 housing units to beneficiaries by middle of January next year. Monthly rental of each unit is only P200. “They spend something like a third of their salary on rental of their housing, another third on meeting their basic needs food, electricity, etc and the third takes care of everything else on their table including education. So we expect them to hold utmost in terms of professionalism and at the same time they barely make ends meet," he said. — ELR/VS, GMA News http://www.gmanews.tv/story/237518/nation/...lys-says-aquino |

There is that outstanding misconception that an authoritarian regime under a 'Burmese' led army soldier would wipe out the remaining hotspots of insurgency. Patterned to that of the Burmese government, the threatening government of this 'Burmese' colonel would impose socialism pleasing both the centrists or left-of-the centre and the extreme left even if this type of economic system results in stagnation and backwardness just like Libya under Ghaddafi whom this burmese colonel adores. A typical scenario for the governmen of this burmese general is to accomodate the NPA into the AFP, hence, assuring him of complete hold and power. A Burmese type of military junta would result in whimsical and capricious generals getting away with murder just like the others. Legal conflicts in adversarial environments in court trials would be resolved by ideological underpinnings setting aside legal plausibilities. As longs as this Filipino-Burmese colonel is in power, he cannot turn his government into a de jure hence, a defacto government unless a miracle happens when he decides to call an election which I doubt would turn to his favour. Given that his government is defacto therefore, illegitimate and that rebellion is a continuing crime, assassination attempts on him which can possibly occur everyday would hound him forever. This burmese colonel is not a thinking animal. He does not see the consequences of his act. Tira bulag (groping in the dark) |

I think Hitman does not care whether we win the war on counter-insurgency or not. All he cares for is the Burmese-Filipino colonel. As long as colonel is in power everything turns out to be good for him even if his illegitmate government turns out to be the number 1 recruiter for NPA. All that hitman cares for is his image which turns out to be disgusting given that his Burmese colonel killed and murdered 1000 AFPs whose orphans are now begging on the streets, through his cooup d'eta. That means burmese colonel or Hitman not only killed thosee of his own through his ambitious struggle for fame andn power even if the people do not like him. His violent coup d'etas orphaned and prostituted their (AFP's) children and wives. What a way to be a colonel. Kill his own men!! Magkita kayo ni Sison sa impiyerno! (See each other with sisonn in hell, master coup plotter). PNOY WANTS 'EVERYTHING FOR AFP' UNDER HIS TERM. WHAT DOES THIS MALIGNING COLONEL WANTS? TO WREAK HAVOC IN AFP, DIVIDE AND FORCE THEM TO KILL EACH OTHER THE WAY SISON WANTS TO. |

Its ok Hitman, let this person spill the beans, and exercise his freedo of speech with the rest of his rights as long as he walk with the rules, or play by the book. Every now and then, we need some people like yaphr as we rarely seen a comrade here who are knowledgable in our dirty politics. BTW yaphir, you'll be fine as long as you dont spread rumors and if you dont preach communism and all about the devil. Tell us more about the Yellow people and the IMF. |

Honasan is not sacrosanct. Some people find him sancrosanct not because of respect but because they are scared of him because he is a registered terrorist here in the PHilippines and USA. Critics are not scared of Cory because they can get away with murder and Cory is lenient, tolerant, forgiving and God-fearing and prayerful. They take advantage of Cory's tolerance of freedom of speech. "You can know one by his/her fruits (deeds) and by the words coming out of his mouth" - Bible. Not by ouur thoughts as this lunatic angel formoso alleges scaring people with his Halloween interpretations of the Bible attributing 'gruesome illwishes' on his pet peeves. His goddamned invention. "You can improvise, can't you?" -Roberto D. to angel formoso. Tara***o ang magbiyenan.. We are preoccupied s****ing our wives. We have no time to ill-wish. Maybe it is you!- Roberto Delfin to angel formoso, incumbent Chairman CPP-NPA

Do you know what a METAPHOR is? It is a figure of speech. You should know that if you are PMA. |
