It is not illegal to be concerned and in today's world nothing is permanent and things could change in an instant.
We shall not fail or falter; we shall not weaken or tire...Give us the tools and we will finish the job.
Sir Winston Churchill, BBC radio broadcast, 1941

We'll settle this the old navy way: first guy to die, loses.

If you are concerned then what can you do for your country?

Right now the usa is by far the largest recipient of Chinese goods. If there was a war China really would stand to lose the most.

People scream "but the debt to China keeps america in check". Not true. That "debt" is an investment the Chinese have made. Investments can lose value. If the situation was serious enough the usa could easily smack China down, tell it to piss up a rope on its "debt" and not pay claiming that the costs incurred while defending the Philippines were levereged by the money owed to China thus "absolving" the US of any debt to China.

That said, the American elites have put alot of their own business in China and would easily stand to lose those in a serious engagement and the americans canceled the T-bills. Considering how much americans are forced to value the business ventures abroad by their upper crust, this could prove to be very interesting.

The american dollar is also on the verge of being shelved as the reserve currency. There have been serious discussions by other foreign powers to create a basket of currencies to purchase oil etc other than the american dollar. Any more economic hijinks (QE3, insufficient budget balancing next month) by the american government and it will happen.

Will the americans come rescue us if things go pear-shaped? Perhaps as long as they feel there is a strategic(economic/military/political) interest to do so. It would behoove us to give them that strategic interest.
