The MDT is JUST a piece of PAPER alright but what about the PAPER you are using in exchange for goods and services? For me, it is still a PAPER but it works.

Whether to rely or not, the US(U-ncle S-am) will still be there to join the fray and the good part is that they will be covering your ass.

Sir! your point is that America will come to the rescue. They have 2 war and a huge debt. They have there own problem. They would not risk there carrier group.

End of the day, the Philippine will be own our own.

It is not that "they will come to the rescue". A perfect and complete example of the treaty is between South Korea and the US. What happened in the Korean War? It is not because "they will come to the rescue" but because of peace and reconciliation of the misunderstandings. Besides, any war in any part of the world will and always affect American economy - that is American interest.

Correction: It is "ON your own" and "not own your own". My goodness where did you study? A shame to your Alma mater.

on the front they say that, but reality they will move on it. Dollar will be ditch. I think the Philippines stop on relying in US economy and military.

And what do you suggest? Use the YUAN instead? :lollol:

Aircraft carriers are the American's most iconic symbol of power projection but is it true that China has developed to an Anti-ship ballistic missile developed from the DF-21 that would give China a area denial weapons. Also with the growing ambition of China and resurgence of Russia in the Atlantic and Pacific is quite concerning me at the moment.

As our ambassador has said, we will stand by the Philippines.

Nay sayers have personal issues with us or are Mainland Chinese supporters.

Filipinos have always been in control of their own destiny.

If our potential enemy is not nuclear armed or holds a large holder of US foreign debt, i would see the US coming to aid but after what happened in South Ossetia with Georgia and Russia I have some doubts and reservations on this MDT.

Again, this was already answered before and I will ask you again the same questions. Does Georgia have an MDT with the US? Does Georgia have an MDT with NATO? Does Georgia have any MDT's with any country? With these questions you cannot compare Georgia with The Philippines. The Philippines and US are HISTORICAL allies. These because of the 2 world wars, Korean war, and Vietnam war that the two countries fought together side by side. What about Georgia and the US? :dunno:
