This is what the President has to say:

MANILA, Philippines—Philippine President Benigno Aquino’s office on Sunday brushed off calls by a navy colonel for his overthrow, saying the officer was not backed by anyone else in the 120,000-strong armed forces.
The video appeal by Generoso Mariano was an “isolated” case, said presidential spokeswoman Abigail Valte as she hinted the political opposition was behind the footage.
“We are not alarmed. The (armed forces) leadership had said that these are only his own sentiments and not the sentiments of the others,” Valte said in an interview aired on government radio.
“There are no others that share his views or his opinion (on) his call even to replace (Aquino.) We are confident that the soldiers know that they are here to uphold the constitution… and not to engage in politics,” she added.
Valte said Mariano seemed to be “saying the same thing” as the political opposition and joked that he could work for them openly after his retirement from the military.
Mariano was stripped of his post and put under investigation over a video in which he called for Aquino to be overthrown.
The video was circulated on social networking sites on Saturday and one copy was delivered anonymously to navy headquarters, the military has said.
Mariano was set to retire on Sunday when he turned 56 but could still face charges of sedition and conduct unbecoming of an officer, the military said.
The Philippine forces have been wracked by periods of unrest since a military-backed bloodless “people power” uprising toppled the 20-year rule of dictator Ferdinand Marcos in 1986.
Two of the five presidents that followed him survived a series of military coups, including Aquino’s late mother Corazon Aquino, who had to seek the help of the US Air Force in a bloody attempt in 1989.

Gentlemen, Active Duty or Active Reservist are all well-indoctrinated. Active Reservist enjoys several benefits that an Active Duty is given. An Active Reserve is also being deployed. The only thing that matters is that Col. Mar**** may have seem to forget his doctrine and but rather had his life twisted to be more as politically chaotic. Nkkawa family nya as he has stained his name, his supposed valor as a military ranked and dignity as a Col, now he could face one of the worst nightmares of a military person...military court and civilian court, w/ possible total removal of his retirement benefits. :nono:

Exactly ! Cindy, there is no doubt about that. I would have supported him if he had denounced the still infant regime of P-Noy due to enormous corruption issues similar to that of the one's who paid him. He did not uphold the dignity of the rank given to him. He sold it. Nobody in his right mind would believe that he will gamble his rank and entitlements with the stupid stunt he did.

Be careful though, i have heard a lot of grumblings lately.
This administration is a vengeful one and rumors has it, a lot in the military and police officials known to support the previous administration was sent to floating status. When you are in a floating status, you have a lot of time in your hand. An idle hand is the hand of the devil.

Remember that appointing officers is based on qualifications, accomplishments etc and not on palakasan/batabata system which is again becoming rampant in this administration.
Modernization should prioritize:

Patrol Ships with air/sub/ship detection, fast & lightly armed for Navy.
Surface Attack Aircraft with anti ship/sub attack capability for Airforce.
SAM with Radars, Close AA battery capable of shooting ground targets too for Army.
This triangle defense will work together and protect us from external threats.

Well it is to be expected they voted PNoy after all... Live with the consequence of of the actions of the Filipino people.
Two qualities are indispensable: first, an intellect that, even in the darkest hour, retains some glimmerings of the inner light which leads to truth; and second, the courage to follow this faint light wherever it may lead.

Just because you are promoted by a previous President perceived as corrupt that you are incompetent?

Look at Biazon and Ramos to name a few they were promoted by Marcos our most corrupt President. Are they incompetent? Do not ever disgrace the Armed Forces with that kind of comment. This man surrendered their easy life in exchange for a life of hardship to serve our Country.

IF you cannot be even civil nor logical of your comment I suggest you Shut Up. That comment was uncalled for. I presume though you are a Civilian and yet you do not appreciate that because of this men you can sleep soundly at night.

di mo nakuha a , di ko naman nilahat sa military a

what I mean were military officers who are corrupt & incompetent who got promoted during and after their serive bec they were Arroyo lapdogs. These were the kind of officers that Trillanes, Col. Querubin, Gen. Lim et al protested against.

kuha mo na?
