The LCU 2000 on this website:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landing_Craft_Utility

looks very similiar to what Propmech is working on for the Phil Navy.

I think it is similar even the size... The report says that it is 579 tons and the LCU 2000 class (below) is 575 tons. No further details were given for the PN LCU, though it will give us a rough idea of how large the ship is by looking at the LCU 2000.

Compare the 2 below (Propmech LCU design [top] vs LCU 2000 [bottom])

Comparing the 2, it seemed that the bridge of the Propmech is wider/larger and slight difference on the hull sidings .

This is a start for future RP-made naval vessels. Sure it's only logistic but the next step will lead to another and before you know it. BAM! Real missile-armed, ASW capable, vessels that could have the real capability of defending the sovereign soil of the Republic of the Philippines.

Its not a start though, shipbuilding is one of our major outsourced product we export.

But regarding the missiles? well if they can't simply arm Pf-15 or Jacinto with it, then "asa pa".

Let us just put .50 guns on those newly buld ship or something.

:lollol:
Modernization should prioritize:

Patrol Ships with air/sub/ship detection, fast & lightly armed for Navy.
Surface Attack Aircraft with anti ship/sub attack capability for Airforce.
SAM with Radars, Close AA battery capable of shooting ground targets too for Army.
This triangle defense will work together and protect us from external threats.

The Military was pampered by Marcos true and Correct. Though Marcos destroyed the professionalism of the Military the Professional military we had before Marcos was replaced of the dysfunctional system we have now.

The Military when Marcos took over was one of a partnership of the Executive and other Politicos to that of the Military. They do favors in exchange of ranks and what not.

They were also affected before Marcos came to power the AFP was given a lot of Uniforms and stuff, I should know my Grand Father is a Sgt in the PA. My lola was always complaining why the supplies that the soldiers are getting keeps on dwindling.

This is in direct relation to the state of the Economy by Marcos. So even though he did not pillage the AFP. He was still in fact responsible for why the Philippine Government after him was not able to adequately provide enough founds to the AFP.

Because there is no funds to begin with Marcos took it all, and yet left us a huge debt that takes precedence over the Military. The Tool used by Marcos to hold on to power for 20 years and pillage the Philippines.

Tronco,

I could not agree with you more. The plunder of the Marcos dictatorship set back the Philippines condemned not one but at least two generations of Filipinos into poverty. While our neighbors became economic tigers in the 1970's and 1980's, Marcos made our country the sick man of Asia.

Towards the end of the Marcos dictatorship, our foot soldiers had no boots while Imelda Marcos had at least 3,000 pairs of imported luxury shoes. The enlisted men were using Coke bottles in lieu of canteens and their magazines only had half the number of bullets while Ferdie and Imelda and thier cronies looted the Philippines.

Interesting i thought PF-15 is being armed with a missile while i was searching for it, instead i found this:

I never knew this one hehe.

:armyLol:

Gregorio Del Pilar PF-8

Quote:

The single Mark 12 5-inch/38-caliber (127 mm) gun was the Gregorio del Pilar's primary weapon. It was mounted in a Mark 30 Mod 0 enclosed base ring and had a range of up to 18,200 yards (16,600 m) yards. The gun was a dual-purpose type, capable of both antisurface and anti-air warfare. She also carried two twin Mark 1 Bofors 40 mm antiaircraft guns, four Mark 4 single 20 mm Oerlikon cannons, and four .50-caliber (12.7-mm) general-purpose machine guns.[8]
Hatch and Kirk, Inc. added a helicopter deck aft in 1979.[9] Although the ship had no permanently assigned aircraft and could not service helicopters, the helicopter deck could accommodate a visiting MBB Bo 105C helicopter, used by the Philippine Navy for utility, scouting, and maritime patrol purposes.

The ship was powered by two Fairbanks-Morse 38D diesel engines with a combined power of around 6,200 brake horsepower (4.63 megawatts) driving two propellers. The main engines could propel the 1,766-displacement-ton (standard load) ship at a maximum speed of around 18 knots (33 km/h). She had a maximum range of 8,000 nautical miles (14,820 km) at an economical speed of 15.6 knots (29 km/h).[8]

The Philippine Navy made plans to upgrade the entire ship class with new radar systems and the BGM-84 Harpoon long-range anti-ship cruise missile, but this did not materialize due to the worsening political and economic crisis in the Republic of the Philippines in the mid-1980s.[10]

This may in fact one of the leads telling us that Marcos was that really serious in acquiring some various missile systems intended for our warships, may have also listened to Benigno Aquino Sr.'s previous plea to arm the AFP with such advance weaponries. This spells out the truth about the previous Sta. Barbara missile project as well as those featured anti-storm rocket/missile weapon and the Sumpak variants.
