Exactly. The DND is a civilian agency. It has no capability to effectively command and control three separate branches of military service. Yes, civilian authority is supreme, but leave the fighting and the quick decisive decision making that is necessary for waging war to those who are actually trained for it. Imagine how we would fight our wars if it has to be approved by a committee that will have to wait for a recommendation from a collegiate body that is only present during office hours. The DND is only a supervisory body. It plans and outlines the administrative requirements of the AFP. Lets leave it at that.. |
