The US knows the threat that China is flaunting.

China's plan to extend their defense zone even beyond West Philippine is not a secret to the US as a prelude to ruling the Pacific.

Not the bills but China's abusive actions towards its neighbors is what alarms the US.

I would suggest helping the US enhance their presence in the region to counter China's adventurism.

We should let the US Air Force retake the Clark Air Field or build a new base in Western Luzon like in Ilocos or La Union.

Laoag International would be a good place to consider setting up assets. Currently an 8000 foot strip and with a little help from Kuya Sam we can extend it to 8500-9000 feet. Base a few US fighters or some of their special operations assets. They seem to enjoy flying their C130's in the mountains immediately East of that location. The airstrip is far removed from Manila and any other major city. The boost to the local economy would be a added benefit.

Continue spreading the wealth and have a more strategic base in Clark or Cebu. I would prefer a more out of the way location to have them help build more infrastructure for us but hey beggers cant be choosers. At some point we need to get serious about inviting them back or the Viets will win the prize.

Oh and consider having then develop a more robust presence in Mindanao so that they can help us keep the pressure on the moros in case the moros forget they are still part of our nation as they have a tendancy to rear their heads when we are focused on other issues.

Well that would be possible if we rewrite our constitution. :)
Two qualities are indispensable: first, an intellect that, even in the darkest hour, retains some glimmerings of the inner light which leads to truth; and second, the courage to follow this faint light wherever it may lead.

Yeah but not in Subic anymore we already transform it as economic hub, why not try to build it in Palawan since it is strategic to WPS and all Asean nation facing it.

Agreed Subic just wont work with it being an economic hub. Nothing good will come of it. It is better to base the canos in a new location and have them build a shiny new facility for us. Sure they will want to use it for 50 years but we have all the time in the world. We need to think long term not short term. This short term, immediate gratification mentality has crippled us since the end of the Marcos days.

We can even change the whole constitution so why can't we amend a few? :thumb:
