Guys if the Navy and government of the past administrations was serious about our ships they could have got ships from our own local shipyards years ago if they were serious about it even without missiles which is fine with me we can get them later but handout like this makes me sick and worse her upgrades are only minor even the communication system for inside is from the same era as the ship anyway if they just use the ship as a template we should have made a thousand redesign ship with our without missile capability which is better making a good Navy and making a lot of Filipinos happy and proud because of the we make our own ships and we make jobs for thousands of people in this country see hitting two birds with one great stone but still i love our navy guys keeping a ship like this in working order is great endeavor in its self however i have no respect for our militants and tongressman our taong grasa are more hard working than this poor sons of bitches for the new guys how got in the mix well am sorry your part of the lot unless you guys work our nothing to us voters so work if your reading this!!!!! but great part for the navy showing Philippines presence will make them think twice before going in our territory again.... |

You mean not literally the same, just the same attitude like what you said. Both are still different race, different bloodline, and they hate each other. |

ANALYSIS On sending Philippine Navy’s biggest warship to Spratlys ‘Be sure Humabon guns do not jam’ By Amando Doronila Philippine Daily Inquirer 6:12 am | Monday, June 20th, 2011 The Philippines deployed on Friday its biggest warship, the BRP Rajah Humabon, to patrol the West Philippine Sea, also known as the South China Sea, raising its naval profile in the escalating dispute over several islands in the Spratlys group with China and four Asian countries—Vietnam, Malaysia, Taiwan and Indonesia. More of the article here. Mr. Doronilla got the names of the countries involved in the West Philippine Sea dispute wrong. |

Writing about military matters is clearly out of Doronila's knowledge zone. He should stick to political matters. |

I think it's a possibility that some of their ammo are duds. I guess they're still stowing 60-year old ammunition. Just my guess though. |

Since we now have an increased military budget (more than US$4B per year) the Rajah Humabon can be upgraded to sport new systems such as ASMs and CIWS perhaps. Are there any plans for it? |

a reasonable guess is that missiles ciws or any modernized systems would only be installed on upcoming ships(2nd-hand or brandnew) -e.g. hamilton cutters, upcoming new OPVs, MRVs, etc while the old existing ex-WW2 ships will then be retained in an OPV gun-armed role for amphbious firesupport or EEZ/fisheries patrol. |
