Is it sarcasm to correct an erroneous assumption?

Been a member since 2004, I rarely posts but I've been reading a lot of the posts including yours.

In fact you're fond of posting pics along with your replies so can you find a pic of the Haixun 31 showing VLS as assumed by Mr. Kfir?

The Philippines is sending its biggest warship to the Scarborough shoal in the West Philippine Sea after China sent its biggest civilian patrol ship to the disputed waters.

Radio Australia's reporter in Manila, Shirley Escalante, says the BRP Rajah Humabon will be sent to the Philippines' southwestern border, near the disputed Spratly Islands.

Navy chief Vice Admiral Alexander Pama says the warship will guard against intrusions in Philippine waters and "poaching".

O!!! My GOD!!! Sana walang mangyari sa BRP Rajah Humanbon!?! I don't like to see or hear Young brave men lives wasted on A non-such endeavor... :armysad:

We are not going to War but the Philippine Navy has a duty to protect the Country's Interests ... I wonder what will happen to her when PF15 arrives here. Hope PN won't let her go to the Scrap yard, its better if she will be on active duty coz Rajah Humabon has more GUNS than PF15...

Naniniguro lang.... Mahirap na kasi this Chinese Ship might be unarmed from the outside but who knows what inside of it... The sailors there could be armed with AK47 and RPG / ManPADs. Also Chinese ship always resort to RAMMING opposing ships like what 2 Chinese ships did before to the Rajah Humabon and PN replied to Firing its guns.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BRP_Rajah_Humabon_(PF-11)

On 2 February 2000, the Rajah Humabon fired warning shots at two Chinese fishing boats near Scarborough Shoal. According to Navy chief Vice Admiral Luisito Fernandez, the Rajah Humabon was forced to fire warning shots to avert a collision with two Chinese fishing boats and only after the Chinese boats refused to respond to radio contact, loudspeaker, sirens, and flashing lights.[16]

I just have one question. Did Philippine Navy arrest does chinese vessel?
What is the Philippine Navy rules of engagement?

I copy and paste one of the U.S. Navy rules of engagement.

Quote:

SCENARIO NO 1: An unidentified boat approaches a naval ship in or near a harbor. The revised rules of engagement reportedly provide for immediate neutralisation of such a boat before it could come within ramming or boarding distance of the ship without waiting to verify the intention of the boat. Action can be initiated even at the risk of casualties of innocent civilians.

SCENARIO NO.2: A naval ship moving or patrolling in high seas encounters an unidentified ship or boat moving around in suspicious circumstances or which seems to be coming towards the naval ship. This scenario gives some window for verification. The revised rules of engagement provide for opening fire if the suspicious ship or boat resists attempts at verification or opens fire or seems to be planning to open dire on the naval ship. Appropriately judging the situation and acting is left to the discretion of the naval personnel depending on the circumstances of the case.

And I think if our BRP Rajah Humabon don't fire a warning shot and fire a direct hit its still an act of self defense right? Since its the chinese vessel who is an aggressor in our own territory.

Me too. Although its old. We can still do some upgrade. And since hamilton though much bigger than brp rajah humabon its not build to be a navy ship unlike brp rajah humabon. I think we can upgrade BRP rajah humabon into anti-submarine missile frigate. Or we can copy the design of BRP rajah humabon increase its size destroyer or small cruiser and equipt with weapons as defense against Chinese navy in mind. I know our shipyard in Cebu can build our own destroyer with right support by our governement and with some help from nationalistic businessman. Kung kaya nila mag bigay ng porche sa mga pulitiko. Bakit di nila kaya magbigay ng donation for our Navy.

For sure this Chinese maritime patrol ship won't be alone, might be escorted by Medium size Submarine and they know that we don't have the capabilities to detect their Subs, that's more dangerous for our PN ships...

Let's not forget the Cheonan incident in Korean Peninsula!!!
Only thing they have to do is DENY IT, which their very good at.....

Although according to reports from wikipedia :dunno: "It was reported in 2004 that her fore Hedgehog ASW is still operational, together with her 8 K-gun Mk6 depth charge projectors and SQS-17B sonar."
We do need to verify all these if they really are operational? thus any of you guys here have an info on this one? :ssalute:

another comedic speculation, ignorant too ...waters in Spratlys very shallow, not ideal for submarine operations.

absolutely no connection with Cheonan incident LOL..that was between the Koreas unrelated to Spratlys issue.

That would be a 'GRAVE MISTAKE' should China decide to go that direction...
