I won't be surprised if a korean company will be a top contender since they have lower costs compared to western shipyards. you will also notice in the FBO solicitation that the PN specifically requested that whatever data/specs/drawings, etc presented by the bidder to PN cannot be copyrighted by the bidder and that the Philippine navy will be free to use it. what this means is that the PN will be free to combine the best features from all the competing designs and possibly, build the hull in the philippines while using an integrator like Qinetiq to hook up the systems. Very smart move by PN !! |
