Our pilots are trained to identify aircrafts and what nation it belongs. It's just that they need to compare it with pictures on the database to confirm if it was really a MIG or SU's because they look similar in a distance. But according to my source, which is my counter-part in the Mossad, it was an SU27 since China does not operate MIG's as their jet fighters. Besides, they(our pilots) saw one red star on each wing which is, according to information, an insignia of the PROC's AF.

Counter-part in the Mossad???

The PAF and PN should acquire the portable FIM-92 Stinger Missile System instead due to budget constraint as a last resort defense in case under attack by an aircraft, the cost per unit is less than $40,000 (P1.6 Million)...

We can dream, we can wish. I know it cost too much to buy fighter jet. But even if we buy a squadron of F16 (as right now this is the most we can afford) do you think it can defend the 4th and 5th generation fighter jets of China? If we really want to defend our sovereignty and pride we must act as one.
First is in a matter of national pride or not? If not then lets give up spartly. And salvage our pride. If yes then lets our government priorities our defense capability. What if A Chinese fighter jet fly by in manila. What do you think our congress and senate will do or react? Do you think it the same to what just happened in spratly? I don't think so. If we really think that spartly belongs to the Philippines our congress and senate must act on this. pass an emergency bill. Purchase fighter jets and warships enough not only to patrol but to defend and even attack if provoke. Just enough fighter jets and ships to sustain an engagements for a week or until theirs a resolution by U.N. or U.S. intervention. This is the worse scenario. But that what we need to put in consideration when we buy ship and figher jet. We need an umbrella of defense.
Sad to say theirs no more nationalistic pride in our countrymen. They rather see that money go to their pocket. I mean belly.

What makes you assume that a fighter jet is too much? Are you in the PAF or something? :armyfrown: It's the matter of where those funds go. The AFP obviously has to compete with all the other things are nation is doing. We have the funds, it's just that the AFP doesn't get as much funds as the rest of the other things that need funding. The Spratlys have oil, which we can use to make a profit. Otherwise, we could occupy all of those islands without dispute. Relax man, people in the AFP aren't blind to this. You can't tell them what to do. They know what they're doing and what they need. This is exactly what's being planned more or less. A quote from the Old Man in Pawn Stars, "This ain't a damn video game where you just run around and buy stuff." This is not a joke, and the AFP knows that. Modernization is more complicated than buying newer and better stuff. If you exclude the Spratlys, our relationship with China is much better than you think. At least 20% of our population is part Chinese or has some Chinese blood. We have been trade partners since antiquity (barter trade) up to now. In fact, they're on goodwill visits right now. It was also once rumored that we would get fighter jets from China. An all-out war with China is unlikely, and I think they'll think twice before killing our troops.

"they'll think twice before killing our troops."

Didn't they just executed Civilian Filipinos who maybe innocent and just framed for something they didn't commit?

The bidding is directly by the manufacturers. It will be via FMS throught a Muli-year obligation contract. Bidding will not be through representation of 3rd party agents. However, one best alternative is the direct buying. The fastest?..... lease fighter jets, being offered by the US, which these includes F/A-18E, F/A-18C's and D's, F-16C Blk 42 and 50) the decision and procurement can easily be done. COMMON, Mr. Politicians, give us the tools!

Mate is verifying the roundel to confirm if Chis or Viets.

If the two OV-10s were on a routine reconnaissance mission at that time they should have taken pictures of an incident like this for us to have "PROOF" they should have CAMERAS with them.

This should be part of their SOP when doing recons, the PN, PAF, PCG should be Taking PICTURES and should be doing this all a long when Conducting their routine patrols especially along this areas.... :dunno: It's also the only way we can have proof to show, include when filing a PROTEST to the UN.

The Big Problem is Vietnam and China have the same ROUNDEL... :aberet:

As far as we can see, the administration is concentrated on the naval acquisitions. No word yet for the PAF modernization. Puro plano at study pa lang ang ginagawa ng airforce. Kawawa naman.

Preferred jet fighter specs have already been completed and just awaiting for the release of the budget. Government-to-government acquisition will be performed. Commercial issues will allow them to bid and cost will be throught FMS.

Whichever it is, what we need are the tools to protect the sovereignty of this nation. :salute:
