Rabusa gets support of PMA Batch ’81

MANILA, Philippines— Retired Lieutenant Colonel George Rabusa got the support of his classmates in the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) Class of 1981, or the Dimalupig Class, in his involvement as whistle-blower in the ongoing probe on massive corruption in the Armed Forces of the Philippines.

“The members of PMA Dimalupig Class of 1981 respect the decision of our mistah, Cavalier George Rabusa, that led to his actions. We support his quest for truth and justice as we continue to stand firm on the ideals of our alma mater,” said Chief Superintendent Mario A. Avenido, president of the Dimalupig Class, in an official statement released to the media.

Rabusa testified against his former boss, ex-military comptroller Major General Carlos Garcia, in the recent Senate hearing. Rabusa was budget officer during Garcia’s tenure.

Besides Avenido, who is director of Police Community Relations Group of the Philippine National Police, many of the 158-strong Dimalupig Class are still active in the military and the police.

Among them are Chief Superintendent Franklin Bucayu, Ilocos Regional Police Director; Chief Superintendent Francisco Don Montenegro, PNP Maritime Group; Chief Superintendent Catalino Cuy, acting director, PNP Special Action Force; Colonel Benito Templo de Leon, commander of the 104th Infantry (Sultan) Brigade, Ist Infantry (Tabak) Division, Philippine Army; Chief Superintendent Ifor Magbanua of the PNP Internal Affairs Service; and Royal Thai Army General Iwahip Netyinom, class topnotcher (summa cum laude).

Loosely translated to Filipino, “dimalupig” means unbeatable.

But they ran short of telling their co-PMA graduates under Rabusa's file who were involved in the multi- million fraudulent disbursement scam to come clean and surrender their illegally acquired assets and cooperate fully with the investigation, so that the state will not be at pain of digging it out.

circling the wagons around their respective mistahs

how can change for the better take effect if all the classes refuse to speak out, condemn their erring classmates but instead offer support?

perfect example of the PMA mistah mafia at work - mistahs supporting and protecting their own..heck, given the ranks and positions of Rabusa's mistahs, it would be safe to say that the only truly honest mistah in their class is their valedictorian - the Thai General Iwahip Netyinom.

We just don't know his record while serving his homeland Armed Forces. Thailand is also a corrupt country but not as bad as ours. Given the benefit of the doubt, maybe he is.
