I just hope and pray the Obama Administration is serious in their oath of Pledge to help the Armed Forces of the Philippines modernize our military equipments most of these our of 1961 the days of the Vietnam War especially the Black Rifle M16A1 majority of these Rifle are just that when very few M4s Rifle are available only to Special Forces and Light Reaction Company Commando teams.. The Huey Helicopter is the most Iconic equipment of the Vietnam Era.. And the MacArthur Naval Ships as well.. Peacock class corvette are not enough to instill fear against sea ferry pirates and aggressive naval combat ships of CHINA!.. I just wish they will fullfil their promise but if not It is just emty promises and pledges.. that all.. and it would turn out after all the Philippines is not that significant and important ally to the Americans after all... :armyneutral:

you see this is the problem, we keep on relying on the US. We should strive to help ourselves in anyway. If the US voluntary give us or donate free logistics thats most welcome. But we should also rely and build our own defense industries even in a modest way since we already have some capabilities like ship building, small arms, howitzers, APCs to start with. With this SRDP in case of conflicts we are self sufficient. Just look what is happening with our relationship now to one of our allies Taiwan, they are or may delay some of defense acquisitions from them as a retaliation of the deportation to China of the suspects arrested who are Taiwanese. Unexpected diplomatic blunder from an ally. when are we going to stand in our feet.

It makes me wonder, some countries like Taiwan and Singapore and even Japan who has limited natural resources can built modern logistics and weapons whereas we who are rich in natural resources cannot make one for the AFP. Something is very wrong. We have the wrong people in the government and this has been going on for decades.

Finally a voice of reason.

Some people here seem to think that it is the US's responsibility to modernize the AFP: it's NOT.
Responsibility for one's own country is the price of independence.

“When learned men begin to use their reason, then I generally discover that they haven’t got any.” - G. K. Chesterton

MSantor is not a man of sound reason. Savages have always preferred the club for they know that they are powerless against the pen. But who is the greater fool - the savage or the one that gives him power? May Truth rebuke you.

Indeed The Philippines is very much in Rich Natural Resources the problem is the Greediness amongs business people who knows where big money can be made for their own purpose and vanity.. It is true though countries like Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, and South Korea have the means to build their own weapons even though they have the rich natural resources like the philippines does.. It is simply because they know who is the enemy.. We on other hand have lots of enemies within and that is hindrance to national developement..

But why you guys focausing on cutters?

one reason is the complexity and cost of the gas turbine engine on for example the oliver hazard perry frigates as compared to the diesel engine on the cutters

thats a negative blue maxx; most of our enemies within are rebelling because they have no jobs to support their families, if many more or new industries pop up or created in the country then unemeployment will decline and most of these rebels will surrender and rather get a job and take care of their families than live and hide in a malaria infested jungles starving. Our government have been sitting around not effieciently managing our bountyfull resources around while the 70% of the population are living in poverty. And with those greedy business people around?, if we already know who they are then why do we let them keep on doing it? maybe we need a people power III or IV or even X. We got to keep on moving ahead brother!
