You know if we have a local shipbuilding industry this is not much of a problem since we love ship with no Anti-Ship, Anti-Air or ASW for Subs. making a lot of OVPs.

Aquino vows to support Navy modernization program

Quote:

MANILA, Philippines – President Benigno Aquino III has promised the Philippine Navy of his administration's support for its modernization program.

In his speech during the turnover of command at the navy headquarters Tuesday, President Aquino mentioned the navy's role in protecting the country's seas particularly in those where oil exploration activities were ongoing.

These include the areas of the Kalayaan group and Malampaya.

For me any future aquisitions of P.Navy ships should have good surveilance radars, missile equipped with ASW capabilities to be able to stand against todays modern Naval world, otherwise it would be the same and useless as having our WW2 era ships, so what's the point of modernizing "kuno" if not properly....

The Ramussen Class Corvette is a good option $ 50M USD
Gomduksuri class PKG patrol ship w/ missile capability 4 for $100M USD
or SIGMA Class Corvette if we have the budget.. - $222M USD

The LCU naman, is already complete, just wait and it will be commissioned this year.
If you don't want a modern and capable AFP, you might want to get the f*ck off the Philippines because you don't deserve to be a Filipino that's why!

There is no point acquiring Patrol ships that doesn't have missile and ASW capabilities or can be fitted with these options in todays modern Naval World.

It will just be a waste of time and money,will be the same as having WW2 ships that are no match in todays modern Naval World.

We should buy the ff. if possible;

Knud Rasmussen Class (OPC)-(1,720 tonnes) x 3 = $150M USD
Gumdoksuri Class (PKG)-(570 tonnes) x 4 = $ 148M USD
Both class are Missile and ASW capable
