'Teacher Ko, Pulis Ko' program reaches Calabarzon By INA HERNANDO-MALIPOT November 17, 2010, 4:27pm MANILA, Philippines – To enhance the moral foundation of young students and strengthen their resistance to crime and become productive, responsible and law abiding citizens, the Department of Education (DepEd) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) in Southern Tagalog has launched the “Pulis Ko Titser Ko” Program. In a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed on Monday at Camp Vicente Lim in Canlubang, Calamba City, the DepEd and PNP formalized a partnership to bring the program to public elementary schools in the region. According to DepEd Region 4-A director Paraluman Giron, the “Pulis Ko Titser Ko” program is a strategic school-based crime awareness project of PNP and DepEd in Region 4-A where policemen from different units in the Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon) area will render 20- to 30-minute lectures to Grade 4 pupils. “This will be implemented in selected public elementary schools on subjects about crime prevention awareness, child safety, welfare and development, lectures on patriotism, nationalism, and other subjects,” she said. Giron said that part of the MOA between the PNP and DepEd is for the two agencies to collaborate in formulating a Grade 4 curriculum and the teaching methodology to be used in its implementation. The program is a brainchild of Calabarzon Police Regional Office director, Chief Superintendent Samuel Pagdilao, Jr. while he was still Northern Police District (NPD) director and which was replicated in Western Visayas region when he was the regional director. http://www.mb.com.ph/articles/288076/teach...ches-calabarzon |
