Disturbing revelations about the Air Force

By Ramon Tulfo
Philippine Daily Inquirer
10/19/2010

AIR FORCE Captain Joenel Pogoy was released on Monday from jail after a
two-year detention.
Air Force authorities kept their promise to dzIQ-Radyo Inquirer that Pogoy
would be released on October 18.
Pogoy was jailed after his video detailing irregularities in the Philippine
Air Force found its way to YouTube.
His video was supposed to have been his scholarly thesis in schooling for
promotion within the Air Force.
Somehow, it got into YouTube which landed him in trouble with his superiors.

Among the irregularities Pogoy exposed in his thesis are the alleged
cannibalizing of airplane parts which are sold outside, the sale of gasoline
by pilots, and the lack of concern for the welfare of enlisted personnel.
Pogoy's complaints are not new.
The same concerns have been aired by idealistic officers of the Magdalo and
Reform the Armed Forces Movement (RAM).
The Magdalo officers staged the Oakwood Mutiny, while RAM was responsible
for several failed coups during the time of President Cory.

I interviewed Pogoy on my program, "Isumbong mo kay Tulfo" (dzIQ, 990 khz
AM), hours after his release from detention.
What was most disturbing was Pogoy's revelation that most crashes of Air
Force planes were caused by graft: cannibalizing of plane parts and aviation
fuel.
He said the crash of a C-130 over Davao Gulf several years ago was caused by
the lack of important plane parts which were stolen by top Air Force brass.

I heard some timawans were encouraging the sale of some airplane parts, particularly the F-8 crusaders that was even sold in an australian museum. Who knows where else. But not sure if that was even authorized or not since those F-8 were irrepairable.

Timawa is the best place now for this inquiries to find out some truth about this.

There might be more aircraft parts being shipped illegally.

Things will never change until there is a dramatic incident. Until the existence of the Philippines is threatened, we are doomed to continue the cycle.

Even when the threat lingers, many in the leadership of our nation downplay the issue whether through ignorance or other motivation$.

Your absolutely right, maybe some kind of a military incident that resulted in casualties around the disputed spratly's will be a WAKE UP CALL...

IMHO: Politikos WAKE UP, READ HERE AND REALIZE WHAT IS HAPPENING to our military---one of the weakest in Asia but one of the most experienced. We have the attitude that if something bad happens and that's the time WE WILL ONLY ACT. IF WE STOP THIS KIND OF BEHAVIOR, WE WILL BE PROGRESSIVE. It looks like na "Hihintayin nyo pa giyera bago umaksyon". We know we have deficiencies in the education, the justice system, those disobedient cops (most especially the Shabu Cops), and those barrio roads. Gising naman po, politikos. How about the AFP? It's not porque the AFP has a $2.03B budget, priority na yan. REMEMBER: Actions speak louder than words. Do something now. We are in the brink of being sucked into a war. I am not a soldier nor an employee nor a worker. I am just a civilian who just realized how come AFP was this or that. If someone would be as good as General FVR and as smart as Marcos (except for the Martial Law), we're sure we are back on our glory days. Thank you and good evening. Please have mercy on our dear land, have the sense of reality. We are the Filipino people. One race, one country, 7,107 islands, one hope. We be united against corruption. May God bless this land. (Halos maiyak na ko sa tinype ko)
If you don't want a modern and capable AFP, you might want to get the f*ck off the Philippines because you don't deserve to be a Filipino that's why!
