South Korea's Hanwha Corporation produces a number of 70 mm (2.75 in) rocket motors and warheads. They are intended for use by the Republic of Korea's armed forces, to equip Korean battlefield helicopters and combat aircraft. Hanwha exports its rockets to a growing number of customers. Hanwha the South Korean industry partner in the joint US/South Korean LOGIR guided rocket programme.

Hanwha rocket motors include versions of the standard Mk 4 and Mk 40 Folding Fin Airborne Rocket (FFAR). The company describes its Mk 4 as the Low-Speed Folding Fin Airborne Rocket (LSFFAR). This rocket is optimised for use by helicopters and low-performance aircraft and can also be fired in a 'single shot' mode by jet aircraft. The Mk 40 FFAR can be used in both an air-to-surface and (in principle) an air-to-air role by (high speed) fighter and attack aircraft.

Hanwha produces a more modern Mk 66-type Wraparound Fold Fin Airborne Rocket (WAFFAR) motor known as the K223. This is a rocket motor for use by high-performance combat aircraft. It has higher thrust and longer range than the Mk 40.

Three 70 mm warhead options are currently available. These include high explosive (HE), HE dual purpose (HE DP) and HE multipurpose submunition (HE MPSM).

At Jordan's 2010 Special Operations Forum and Exhibition (SOFEX 2010) Hanwha displayed a new 'fast attack' 70 mm multiple launch rocket system (MLRS), developed with Jordan's King Abdullah Design and Development Bureau (KADDB). The system adds Hanwha's existing 70 mm wraparound fin rockets (originally developed for helicopters) to a light utility vehicle. Operated by a two-man crew, the MLRS can deliver a salvo of 50 rockets in 13 seconds covering an area of 250 × 250 m, with the option to fire rockets in bursts or singly also.

Hanwha rockets follow the standard configuration with a nose-mounted fuse attached to the warhead section, followed by the rocket motor and tail fin assembly. The Mk 4 LSFFAR and Mk 40 FFAR both have four pop-out tail fins for stability control. The individual rocket motors are 99.97 cm long and weigh 5.1 kg. With the standard M151 warhead installed each weapon measures 1.341 m and has a diameter of 69.8 mm. All up weight is 9.32 kg. Both rockets use the Mk 43 Mod 1 propellant grain with a burn time of between 1.55 and 1.69 seconds. Average thrust is 720 lb. The rockets have a maximum velocity (from a static launch) of 640 mps and a quoted maximum range of 8,080 m.

The Mk 66-type K223 is a more advanced and powerful rocket, distinguished by its three curved wraparound tail fins. The K223 offers a motor impulse of 1,500 lb/sec with a burnout velocity (at 1,300 ft from launch) of 2,425 ft/sec. Each individual motor is 106 cm long and weighs 6.2 kg. The K223 motor uses K674 propellant grain with a burn time of 1.05 to 1.10 seconds. Average thrust is 1,300 lb to 1,415 lb, with an impulse of 1,500 lb/sec. Rockets have a quoted maximum range of 10,426 m.

Warheads include the M151 High Explosive (HE), M247 HE Dual Purpose (HE DP) and K224 HE Multi-Purpose Sub-Munition (HE MPSM). The M151 is a general purpose HE warhead that weighs 3.95 kg with a 1.04 kg Composition B4 filling. The warhead is 32.8 cm long, without a fuze fitted. The M247 HEDP is a combined anti-armour and anti-personnel warhead. It weighs 3.99 kg with a 0.91 kg Composition B4 filling. It is 47.4 cm long, without a fuze fitted. The K224 warhead contains nine multi-purpose submunitions effective against personnel, materiel and light armour. The warhead weighs 6.17 kg and contains nine M73 submunitions weighing a total of 4.9 kg. The warhead is 68.2 cm long, without a fuze fitted.

Hanwha's 70 mm rockets are in production and available. In 2010 the company noted that airborne rocket systems had been sold to Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand and the UAE.

I learned that US Marines are using these unguided rockets and mounted its head with a cheap guidance systems to make them accurate to hit the target like the HellFire missles which costs a lot...

This technology can be adapted by our AFP in coordinate with our Top Technology Universities to come up with a design and a prototype as an Indigenous Rocket Guidance system.
