From the Xinhua release, it may not not be actual ordinance nor something you slap onto the ordinance to make it smart,

It something you slap into the aircraft that will show you where bomb will hit once dropped

An example of such a system would be CCIP

the quickest way to arrive to the Hellfire destination is through the Predator.

all the US have to do is give us 4 Predators along with Hellfires

easier and faster than modifying and upgrading PAF aircraft.

Why complicate things when there are guided rockets that can be launch by the launchers we are presently using. Check GUIDED ROCKETS

There are other american companies who are developing or have developed this guided rocket plus other countries are developing or have developed the same kind of guided rocket such as turkey , israel, etc

To me this is the most practical missile for poor countries. the benefit is that it can be launched by existing launchers in the PAF inventory and it is the cheapest.

I wont be surprised if they develop a naval variant for anti-shipping role.

interestingly, the philippine navy was rumored to possess spike missiles in a strategypage article. The spike is another low-cost missile

another interesting thing is that in the 1990s, the philippines was reported to take received 10,000 plus missiles in an armaments article. it turns out the missiles were just the 2.75 inch unguided rockets LOL.

Fast-forward to the present, this new article specifically says precision missile so who knows if this refers to the modern guided version of the 2.75 inch rocket.

whatever it maybe, I hope the AFP purchased something low-cost so its practical and sustainable to use in the long run..

based on the AFP budget and realities on the ground, i believe this refers to the latest version of the 2.75 inch rocket which is now a precision rocket plus its much cheaper than the hellfire.

the hellfire is $100,000 while this new precision 2.75 inch rocket known as the baby hellfire: is about $1,500 only. other estimates say the rocket is $10,000 , still cheaper than the hellfire.

however, if its free, then yes its possible that it can be bigger hellfire , etc.

What precision rockets will they give to us when the fact is even they don't have yet these rockets?

that was my humble idea in response to sir Tora's post about the steps and stops needed towards a Hellfire-equipped PAF.

for the record, I'm perfectly happy with guided rockets if that is what we are getting.

CCIP stands for Constantly computed impact point.

Here's how Wiki defines it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Constantly_computed_impact_point

Constantly Computed Impact Point (CCIP) is a function with a weapon's sighting system. It provides a depiction of the calculated point of impact, that works out from the launch platform's movement, the target's movement, gravity, projectile launch velocity, projectile drag, and other factors that can be entered, where a projectile will land and displays the information on the Heads Up Display (HUD).
The crosshairs will move around dependent on where the computer predicts the selected rocket, bullet or bomb will hit. Normally a radar lock is necessary, but when strafing or bombing a ground target (A/G mode; A/A mode will simply put the hairs in the centre of the HUD), the crosshairs will move along the ground.
This system is normally used in aircraft or other large vehicles or large static weapons, but it may be possible that the system could be or has been condensed into something that can fit on the top of man portable firearms too.
This system is sometimes combined with an autorelease system so that an aircraft can lock a low drag bomb onto a target from a safe distance, and the bomb can then be released while the aircraft is in a high G climb (when the target would no longer be visible over the aircraft's nose) so that the aircraft does not need to overfly the target.

There are navy versions of the Spike (Spike ER) and the Hellfire (AGM-114N Hellfire II)
