I've followed a similar thread in that other forum It was raised that the said missiles may be other precision-guided munitions even guided aerial bombs or GPS-guided artillery shells |

If these are Hellfires then extensive AND expensive modifications will be done on the Bronco, to include cost of training of pilots and ground crew - will the 18.4 million be enough? Not unless the US shoulder the incidental costs. So Im more inclined to believe that this will be precision munitions for existing AFP artillery or portable ground systems like TOW and Javelin. Or another possibility - this is just a leak to allow the US to arm their Predators operating down south with Hellfires, make it appear that the AFP own the missiles that killed Abu Sayyaf commander or that JI terrorist. Its what they currently doing in Pakistan to appease the opposition politicians there who are against the use of US drones inside Pakistan territory. |

precisely sir saver, and could cut both ways - either the right target is called and real bad guys are killed or like what so often happened in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq the wrong target is called and innocent civilians are killed. The weaopon is precise, but the humans who control it are more often than not, imprecise. |

Good news indeed! and bad news for the ASG, MILF and NPA! Hopefully these missiles are just the start, other equipment too like the MRAP vehicles the US recently gave to the Romanian Army. :thumb: |

Using this as a pretense to deploy US/Contractor-crewed missile-armed UAVs in our airspace against terrorist leaders here is asking for it. UAV strikes in Pakistan have generated very negative public opinion for the civillian casualties and clandestinely operating in the airspace without government of said nation's consent. The rowdiness of several US troops here and their long-standing presence is causing the radically Naive Left to make noise. Imagine the greater s_tstorm it will cause if you have US-operated/contracted drones flying sorties here? The crews pushing the fire button may be Miles away in the Nevada Desert but the fact the targets are here and are flying overhead may deem it against our Constution. Not that I'm against but it still ain't legal nor is it kosher here |

I dont want to add to the confusion by offering my own guess of what exact missiles are these. I just hope and pray that these will be really ours, under our operational control and not another disguised US operation. And about the MRAPs given to the Romanians, those were not really given - the Americans only let the Romanians use the vehicles as long as they are in Afghanistan. |

Good idea sir ID, better we stop guessing so as not to confuse us more. Best option for now is to wait and when the missiles do arrive, make sure that those are really ours and given for good, not to be taken back after the JSOTF-P wraps up its business here. :thumb: |

:thumb: Hellfires and precision rockets, most likely http://www.philstar.com/Article.aspx?artic...bCategoryId=200 U.S. to start implementing "precision" missiles in Philippines (philstar.com) Updated July 30, 2010 05:40 PM Comments (1) MANILA, Philippines (Xinhua) -- The United States has started implementing a program aiming to prove the precision capability of Philippine military aircraft and help the country in its fight against terrorist groups and other armed groups, the Philippine defense department said today. "It's a program for the enhancement of the precision capabilities of the aircraft that is supporting our ground troops in the South. So the equipment that will be provided will be basically some software and other equipment which will allow us to perform this enhanced precision capability for the Air Force basically," Department of National Defense spokesman Eduardo Batac. The 4 million U.S.-dollar project, inclusive of softwares, will be installed to OV-10 planes used by the military in dropping bombs and firing rockets at enemy positions. The Philippine air force currently has OV10s although only 10 are operational. Batac stopped short of saying how many aircraft will be equipped with the system. But once completed, Batac said, the [b/aircraft equipped with enhanced precision capabilities can deliver munitions on the enemy even when there is limited visibility [/b] |

are we going the way of Timawa if we are to curtail the members' desire to freely speculate and guess to their hearts contentment? I thought we are supposed to be the exact opposite of that forum where freewheeling discussion is always discouraged by the all-knowing Mr. Tap in the Shoulder.
